In order to establish the evaluation method for reactor safety under the severe accidental conditions, it is necessary to obtain the physical properties of the molten materials generated during the severe accident. Particularly, the reaction between the melt of stainless steel oxide as the main component of the plant both in light water reactor and fast reactor, and concrete as the base of the plant is an important factor in determining the final location of the molten debris. In addition, the installation of a core catcher is planned as one of the methods to safely terminate a severe accident, and the sacrificial material as a mitigation measure against recriticality is placed in the core catcher to increase the fluidity of the molten material. Fe$$_{2}$$O$$_{3}$$ is considered to be a promising candidate for this sacrificial material. From the above point of view, we focused on the Fe$$_{2}$$O$$_{3}$$-SiO$$_{2}$$ melt mixture and measured the physical properties of it by using the aerodynamic levitation method.
