Direct observation of particle impacting with wall

Satone, Hiroshi*; Maeda, Takeshi*; Segawa, Tomoomi ; Kawaguchi, Koichi

Direct observation of particle impacting with wall was implemented to understand the particle breakage behavior in pneumatic conveying of powders and jet mills. In a transparent rectangular channel with a collision plate that simulates the collision-plate-type jet mill, citric acid particles with diameters ranging from tens to hundreds of micrometers, which easily breakable, collide with the collision plate due to airflow, and were photographed using an experimental system combining a pulse laser and high-speed camera. In this experiment, the trajectory of the particles was confirmed, and the particles after impacting with wall were successfully photographed.
