Basic research programs of vitrification technology for waste volume reduction, 102; Micro XAFS analysis of molybdate aggregated in simulated waste glass

Okamoto, Yoshihiro  ; Nagai, Takayuki  ; Sato, Seiichi*; Inose, Takehiko*; Hatakeyama, Kiyoshi*; Tanida, Hajime

Synchrotron radiation based micro-XAFS analysis was performed on molybdates which was aggregated in borosilicate glass without stirring operation. Using a microbeam focused to about 1 $$mu$$m, XAFS analysis of the edge of the molybdate agglomeration region was performed, revealing the existence of a clear boundary between the molybdate and the glass region. The cations constituting the molybdates were investigated in combination with X-ray fluorescence analysis, which revealed that they are mainly calcium, but salts of strontium and barium, which are also alkaline earth elements, coexist, and are also composed of oxides of several other elements.
