An acoustic-wave assisted microchip LIBS (AW-mLIBS) system was developed for simultaneous measurement of elemental mapping and surface recognition of fuel debris at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. In this presentation, an experimental study on the two-dimensional elemental mapping of Gadolinium (Gd) in a surrogate debris sample and surface imaging of the sample by the AW-mLIBS system will be presented.
