In brackish lakes, suspended solids containing $$^{137}$$Cs in rivers tend to flocculate and precipitate around the estuary. Therefore, trends in the variability of $$^{137}$$Cs in sediments in brackish lakes are expected to differ in each incoming river but have not yet been quantified. It is important to assess the relationship between river basin and estuarine sediments to predict future changes in $$^{137}$$Cs within brackish lakes. In this study, the trend of variability of $$^{137}$$Cs in sediments within brackish lakes was assessed in detail, including land use patterns in river basins.
