Code-to-code comparison through benchmark analyses of Run-E1 sodium spray fire test

Aoyagi, Mitsuhiro ; Boccaccio, R.*; Yamamoto, Masayo*; Higashimaru, Hideto*; May, E.*

As a part of sodium fire analysis codes development, code-to-code comparison through benchmark analyses of Run-E1 sodium spray fire test is carried out. The four sodium fire analysis codes are used; a 0D code SPECTRA in Japan, a 0D code FEUMIX in France, a CFD code AQUA-SF in Japan, and a CFD code SOFI-3D in France. In comparison between the 0D codes, the maximum pressure and oxygen consumption in FEUMIX is lower than those in SPECTRA because of the difference in the spray combustion rate. As for comparison between the CFD codes, there is a natural flow pattern due to the convection effect in both results. These results show fundamental validity of each code for spray fire evaluation.
