Development of a compact ${it in situ}$ $$^{3}$$He neutron spin filter at J-PARC

This study developed a compact and portable in-situ $$^{3}$$He neutron spin filter (${it in situ}$ $$^{3}$$He NSF) utilizing spin-exchange optical pumping at MLF of J-PARC. Its performance as an incident neutron polarizer was evaluated at MLF, where it achieved a $$^{3}$$He polarization exceeding 0.6, corresponding to a neutron polarization greater than 0.8 at 1.8 ${AA}$. Notably, the ${it in situ}$ $$^{3}$$He NSF demonstrated stable operation for 110 h. These outcomes signify that the developed in-situ $$^{3}$$He NSF facilitates and promotes polarized pulsed neutron experiments at MLF.
