Successive phase transitions in the quasi-kagome lattice system URhSn studied by resonant X-ray scattering

Resonant X-ray scattering at the uranium M4 edge revealed successive phase transitions in URhSn. An antiferro-quadrupole (AFQ) order with propagation vector q = 0 emerges between 16 K and 54 K. Below 16 K, this AFQ order coexists with a canted magnetism, leading to a ground state that breaks mirror symmetry and exhibits chirality or polarity.
