In the nuclear fuel reprocessing facility, plutonium contaminated grove-boxes should need to be removed and dismantled for replace or decommissioning. It is important to decontaminate stainless-steel surfaces of grove-boxes before dismantling in order to reduce the risk and reduce the amount of plutonium contaminated wastes. This research investigates the electrolytic decontamination method as a means of decontaminating the stainless-steel surfaces of grove-boxes. This paper reports on the preliminary tests to confirm the applicability of electrolytic polishing to plutonium decontamination of stainless-steel surfaces.
