Development and validation of a radioactive contamination visualization system and its implementation in the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

Sato, Yuki

The author has previously conducted technical development related to radioactive substance visualization based on Compton cameras, and has been conducting demonstration tests for hotspot detection at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS). Furthermore, the author have proposed and developed an "integrated Radiation Imaging System: iRIS," a system that utilizes Compton cameras combined with SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) devices and robots to remotely visualize the distribution of radioactive substances in 3D, and has demonstrated its usefulness on the FDNPS. These achievements, which have contributed to the development of a system for achieving remote 3-D radioactive contamination visualization, have been recognized with the "Decommissioning Contribution Award".
