Neutron imaging technology for visualization of grease fluidity in a ball bearing

Neutron imaging technology was applied to bearings lubricated with lithium (Li) based greases. After bearing rotation, computed tomography (CT) measurements of the greases distribution within the bearings were performed. Neutron radiography during bearing rotation was also conducted to capture the moments of grease flow. Based on these results, lubrication mechanisms will be proposed.
