Revisiting crystal structure and ferromagnetism of intermetallic uranium ferromagnets

Haga, Yoshinori

URhGe is known to show superconductivity coexisting with ferromagnetism. The isostructural URhSi shows very similar physical properties to those of URhGe. Despite very similar ferromagnetic properties in the two compounds, only URhGe, at least so far, shows superconductivity. In this presentation, we first focus on the crystallographic aspects of the two compounds. It is found that fundamental differences are clearly identified. The result is qualitatively consistent with the moment-reorientation observed at a relatively low magnetic field in URhGe. Possible consequences from these differences, particularly on the influences on the electronic structure, will be discussed.
