In the assessment of accident progression for glovebox fires at nuclear fuel processing facilities, polycarbonate is generally treated as a flame-retardant material. However, because it can sustain combustion under specific conditions, a detailed modeling of its combustion behavior and subsequent re-evaluation are crucial for a more accurate understanding of the accident progression risk. To model the combustion, it is necessary to determine the flammability limits of the decomposition gases generated by the material. However, knowledge regarding the various components derived from polycarbonate remains limited. Therefore, we conducted ignition tests focusing on these gas components. In these tests, we attempted ignition by mixing oxygen, nitrogen, and the sample gas at arbitrary ratios. The results revealed that an oxygen concentration of 8-9% or higher is required for ethylphenol to combust. Furthermore, it was confirmed that Bisphenol A undergoes thermal decomposition into phenol even at a test temperature of 270$$^{circ}$$C. Determining the flammability limit of this component alone is difficult, and it is anticipated that evaluation within a mixture system containing phenol would be more realistic.
