In recent years, with the advancement of behavioral economics and behavioral science that consider psychological aspects of human behavior, policymakers have begun considering psychological "tendencies" in policy-making. Furthermore, discussions have commenced on whether the psychological aspects of human behavior can be utilized in policy-making and its public acceptance, taking into account justice and morality. In light of this situation, the report introduces psychological approaches including hypothetical scenario experiments and gaming focused on the manner of distribution, using the example of site selection of repository for high-level radioactive waste, a so-called NIMBY facility, and considers potential for applying psychological approaches in policy-making and its public acceptance.
