The spin excitations of the =
anisotropic triangular antiferromagnet Ca
ReO
Cl
were investigated by inelastic neutron-scattering experiments. The spin excitation spectrum exhibits sharp dispersive modes in addition to a spinonlike continuum. The consistency with the simulated spectrum based on the random-phase approximation is better for Ca
ReO
Cl
than for Cs
CuCl
, indicating that the spin system in the former remains closer to a Tomonaga-Luttinger liquidlike disordered state.

A series of meetings to discuss future neutron/muon sources and instruments at Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF) in Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) has been held since 2017. Each of the neutron instrument groups in MLF proposed required features for future instruments, while addressing issues of the current instruments and facilities. This report compiles the presentation materials presented by the neutron instrument groups in the meetings to help future discussion for the coming MLF.

The neutron instruments suite, installed at the spallation neutron source of the Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF) at the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC), is reviewed. MLF has 23 neutron beam ports and 21 instruments are in operation for user programs or are under commissioning. A unique and challenging instrumental suite in MLF has been realized via combination of a high-performance neutron source, optimized for neutron scattering, and unique instruments using cutting-edge technologies. All instruments are/will serve in world-leading investigations in a broad range of fields, from fundamental physics to industrial applications. In this review, overviews, characteristic features, and typical applications of the individual instruments are mentioned.

Future synchrotron light source using a 5-GeV energy recovery linac (ERL) is under proposal by our Japanese collaboration team, and we are conducting R&D efforts for that. We are developing high-brightness DC photocathode guns, two types of cryomodules for both injector and main superconducting (SC) linacs, and 1.3 GHz high CW-power RF sources. We are also constructing the Compact ERL (cERL) for demonstrating the recirculation of low-emittance, high-current beams using above-mentioned critical technologies.

by the electrical resistivity measurements. In U

, the N
el temperature
in U
Zn
decreases slightly from 9.66 K at 1 bar to 9.33 K at 2.5 GPa, becomes almost pressure-independent up to 4.7 GPa, and starts to increase at the higher pressure region. We discuss the pressure dependences of the coefficient of

, an antiferromagnetic gap
and a characteristic temperature
. It is found that the effect of pressure on the electronic states in U
Zn
is weak compared with the other heavy fermion compounds.

In order to elucidate the nature of the exotic multipolar ordered phase of NpO, we have initiated the first NMR measurements on this system. We have shown that direct observation of multipole order parameters is possible by means of NMR. Our NMR results provide further insight into the microscopic nature of multipole phase transitions in f-electron systems. We have also performed
Ga NMR/NQR studies on a single crystal of PuRhGa
. From the temperature dependence of the spin-lattice relaxation rate (
), we have found that PuRhGa
is an unconventional superconductor having an anisotropic superconducting (SC) gap 2
=5
. Furthermore, we have confirmed the Knight shift to be decreased below
. This gives strong evidence for spin singlet SC pairing.

We have investigated the physical properties of Heavy Fermion superconductors by the ac calorimetry under high pressure using a thermocouple. The method is powerful tool since the high sensitive measurement of the heat capacity is possible and the precise pressure dependence of transition temperatures such as the superconducting transition can be determined. In this conference, I would like to report our investigations on the heavy fermion superconductors CePtSi, CeNiGe
and UIr. We have made pressure phase diagram of these compounds and discuss the relation between the magnetism and superconductivity.

The electronic state has been investigated by the de Haas-van Alphen experiment, indicating the similar cylindrical Fermi surfaces as in an antiferromagnet UPtGa
. We have also studied the pressure effect by measuring the electrical resistivity. The N

Supercritical CO fluid leaching (SFL) method using supercritical CO
fluid containing a complex of HNO
- tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) was applied to removal of uranium from radioactive solid wastes. Sea sands, incineration ashes and porous alumina bricks were employed as matrixes of simulated solid wastes. Real radioactive incineration ash wastes and firebrick wastes were also subjected to the SFL treatment. It was found that uranium could be efficiently removed from both of the simulated wastes and real wastes by the SFL method. The removal efficiency of uranium from the real waste was lower than that from the corresponding artificial waste. About 1 g and 35 mg of uranium were recovered from 10 g of the real ash waste and 37 g of the real firebrick waste, respectively.

Recovery of salts by supercritical fluid leaching (SFL) method using carbon dioxide was experimentally studied. It was confirmed that LiCl was recovered with a mixed fluid of carbon dioxide and methanol, and KCl and SrCl were recovered with a mixed fluid of carbon dioxide, methanol and crown ether. The influence of crown ether for KCl and SrCl
extraction were found to increase in the order of 15-crown-5 (15C5)
18-crown-6 (18C6)
dicychlohexyl-18-crown-6 (DC18C6). It is expected that other salts can be recovered selectively with a mixed fluid of carbon dioxide, methanol and suitable crown ether.
