To accurately determine the external exposure dose, it is desirable to examine the analysis of the CO radical intensity. We examined ESR spectra of teeth of 10 macaques captured in Fukushima by two spectrum-decomposition algorithms.

Limit of detection (LOD) in the ICP-MS measurement of 0.1 g samples was lower than that of the radioactivity measurement. Analytical time of the ICP-MS method was reduced from 20 days to 11 hours, compared with the radiometric method. Therefore, the ICP-MS method can be rapid and useful procedure of
Sr in small bone and tooth samples derived from terrestrial animals.

Using the dose response curve, external exposure dose for seven wild Japanese macaques captured in Fukushima prefecture were examined. The results suggest that the external exposure dose for the wild Japanese macaques were ranged between 45 mGy to 300 mGy.

It is necessary to develop the fast reactor core materials, which can achieve high-burnup operation improving safety and economical performance. Ferritic steels are expected to be good candidate core materials to achieve this objective because of their excellent void swelling resistance. Therefore, oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) ferritic steel and 11Cr-ferritic/martensitic steel (PNC-FMS) have been respectively developed for cladding and wrapper tube materials in Japan Atomic Energy Agency. In this study, the effects of fast neutron irradiation on mechanical properties and microstructure of 9Cr-and 12Cr-ODS steel claddings for fast reactor were investigated. Specimens were irradiated in the experimental fast reactor Joyo using the CMIR-6 at temperatures between 420 and 835C to fast neutron doses ranging from 16 to 33 dpa. The post-irradiation ring tensile tests were carried out at irradiation temperatures.

C is one of the candidates. Up to now, the behavior of
B
C as the Control rod material is well known, but that of
B
C is hardly investigated. In this paper, the radiation effects of
B
C pellets, neutron irradiated in the experimental fast reactor JOYO were studied. From the experimental results, it was observed that no macro-cracks were recognized in the irradiated
B
C pellets. But, bubble nucleation was found in grain and along grain boundaries of
B
C. And, it was shown that the conductivity of
B
C was higher than that of
B
C. During the annealing from room temperature to 1400
C, three recovery stages were found on thermal conductivity. It was suggested that, the recovery of B
C was related to the dispersion behavior of helium. Judging from these results, as
B
C was mechanically more stable compared with
B
C under irradiation, it was shown that
B
C had high applicability for a moderator.

The improvement of the ESR dosimetry is required to apply that for the low-dose exposure of wild animals. We will report our progress of the improvement, and compare the external exposure dose estimated by the ESR dosimetry technique and the calculated result based on the external exposure dose rate of the captured point.

Electron spin resonance (ESR) dosimetry technique is a powerful tool that has been used in the study of external exposure dose assessment of human by measuring CO radicals of teeth. In this work, we applied this technique for wild monkey and wild racoon captured in Fukushima prefecture, and estimated the external exposure dose.

The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP) accident in 2011 resulted in a release of radionuclides into the environment and caused chronic low-dose-rate exposure to wildlife there. Studies of the radiobiological effects by the chronic low-dose-rate exposure was limited and there is a need for accurate determination of exposure doses and further studies of radiation effects by FDNPP accident. We determined dose of wild animals mainly captured in Namie Town, Fukushima Prefecture from the CO radical intensities in tooth enamel by an electron spin resonance dosimetry.

In order to clarify the radiation effects of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident on living organisms, it is important to estimate the radiation dose to individual organisms. We have focused on carbonate radicals that induced in tooth enamel due to radiation, and have estimated the dose by using electron spin resonance technique. In this presentation, we report the results of dose response of radiation-induced radicals and the application of this method to low-dose area by using tooth enamel of Japanese macaque and hydroxyapatite.

To clarify the radiation effects of the accident at the TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi NPP on living organisms, it is important to accurately estimate the dose to each individual. We have developed a multi-component analysis program using random number optimization to extract only the components derived from carbonate radicals from the ESR spectra.
