This paper introduces two important advances in recently reported classes of soft, skin-interfaced microfluidic systems for sweat capture and analysis: (1) a simple, broadly applicable means for collection of sweat that bypasses requirements for physical/mental exertion or pharmacological stimulation and (2) a set of enzymatic chemistries and colorimetric readout approaches for determining the concentrations of creatinine and urea in sweat, across physiologically relevant ranges. The results allow for routine, non-pharmacological capture of sweat across patient populations, such as infants and the elderly, that cannot be expected to sweat through exercise, and they create potential opportunities in the use of sweat for kidney disease screening/monitoring.

An experiment for the laser self-guiding studies has been carried out with 100 TW laser pulse interaction with the long underdense plasma. Formation of extremely long plasma channel with its length, about 10 mm, 20 times above the Rayleigh length is observed. The self-focusing channel features such as the laser pulse significant bending and the electron cavity formation are demonstrated experimentally for the first time.

Search for signature inversion in the $$pi i_{13/2} bigotimes nu i_{13/2}$$ bands in $$^{182,184,186}$$Au

Search for low-spin signature inversion in the $$pi i_{13/2} bigotimes nu i_{13/2}$$ bands in odd-odd $$^{182,184,186}$$Au have been made through in-beam $$gamma$$-ray spectroscopy techniques. The $$pi i_{13/2} bigotimes nu i_{13/2}$$ bands in the three nuclei have been identified and extended up to high-spin states. In particlular, the interband connection between the $$pi i_{13/2} bigotimes nu i_{13/2}$$ band and the ground-state band in $$^{184}$$Au have been established, leading to a firm spin-and-parity assignment for the $$pi i_{13/2} bigotimes nu i_{13/2}$$ band. The low-spin signature inversion is found in the $$pi i_{13/2} bigotimes nu i_{13/2}$$ bands in $$^{182,184,186}$$Au.
