Times Cited Count:0 Percentile:0.00(Engineering, Geological)Clarification of the physicochemical characterization of brittle fault rocks is important not only for understanding the history of the fault activity and deformation mechanisms, but also for assessing the siting conditions of important facilities such as nuclear power plants, radioactive waste disposal sites, and oil storage bases. Here, we apply the chemical weathering index (W values) to the brittle fault rocks of the Shiraki-Nyu fault (granite), the Tsuruga fault (geological boundary between granite and greenstone), and the Yamada fault (adamellite), which are active faults in the peripheral area of Wakasa Bay, and their respective protoliths (hard rocks), and investigate the physicochemical characteristics of the youngest active domain of brittle fault rocks based on the relationship between computed tomography data (CT numbers) and alteration intensity (AI values). The W values of the fault rocks are mainly affected by changes in NaO and CaO, corresponding to the elution or deposition of plagioclase and calsite for granite, clinopyroxene and hornblende for greenstone, and plagioclase for adamellite. The W values mainly indicate the effects of hydrothermal alteration up to 50
60 percent and of weathering at over 60 percent. On the other hand, the CT values of the fault rocks are lowest in the fault gouge corresponding to the latest active zone, which was identified as the lowest density zone. In addition, fresh plagioclase fragments are present in each fault gouge of the latest active zone of the active faults in this study. The application of W values to brittle fault rocks is an effective method for understanding the trends of mineralogical variations associated with hydrothermal alteration and weathering in fault rocks, and it is highly possible to improve the accuracy of identifying the youngest active domain in major fault zones through joint analyses of CT numbers.

JAEA plans to apply narrow gap TIG welding with FMYJJ1 which is full austenitic stainless filler material to manufacture TFC structure. FMYJJ1 is specified in "Codes for Fusion Facilities -Rules on Superconducting Magnet Structure (2008)". In order to evaluate effect of base material combinations and thickness of welded joint on tensile properties at 4 K, tensile tests were conducted at 4 K by using tensile specimens taken from 40 mm thickness weld joints of four combinations and 200 mm thickness ones of two combinations of base materials. These weld joints were manufactured by one side narrow gap TIG welding with FMYJJ1. As the results, it was confirmed that yield and tensile strengths of welded joint at 4K were decreased with decreasing of nitrogen of base material, and there were no large distribution of strengths at 4 K along the thickness of welded joints of 200 mm thickness.

Times Cited Count:3 Percentile:18.26(Optics)By introducing 13th- (61.7 nm) and 15th-order harmonics (53.4 nm) of femtosecond laser pulses at 800 nm into an undulator of SCSS (SPring-8 Compact SASE Source) test accelerator at RIKEN, these harmonic pulses were amplified by a factor of more than 10 with a high contrast ratio through the interaction between accelerated electron bunches and the harmonic pulses. From numerical simulations of the amplification processes of high-order harmonic pulses in the undulator, optimum conditions of the electron bunch duration interacting with the high-order harmonic pulses were investigated for generating full-coherent and intense pulses in the extreme ultraviolet wavelength region.

JAEA plans to use materials specified in the material section of "Codes for Fusion Facilities; Rules on Superconducting Magnet Structure (2008)" issued by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) in 2008. Large forged products were produced and their mechanical properties at 4K were evaluated. In addition, the following activities have been performed; (1) to optimize the design of each weld type identified in the manufacturing sequence, (2) to qualify typical welding procedure including repair, (3) to establish welding techniques other than narrow gap TIG welding with FMYJJ1, (4) to demonstrate the manufacturing procedures through manufacture of 1-m mockups and full-scale segments of TFC structure. This paper describes the results of material qualification and industrialization activities of manufacturing processes of ITER TFC structure.

Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) has conducted qualification and rationalization activities in Japan in order to rationalize manufacturing procedure of ITER Toroidal Field (TF) coil structures. The activities included qualification of structural materials and qualification of welding procedure according to Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) code constituted for fusion devices, demonstration of the manufacturing method and procedures through full-scale segments of TF coil structure. From results of these activities, JAEA confirmed applicability of JSME code to actual series TF coil structures as quality control method hence the quality of structural materials and weld joints of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) were satisfied ITER requirement. In addition, JAEA obtained knowledge of welding deformation of actual TF coil structures. This paper describes results of these qualification and development activities for TF coil structure.

Times Cited Count:97 Percentile:96.10(Optics)The 13th harmonic of a Ti:sapphire (Ti:S) laser in the plateau region was injected as a seeding source to a 250-MeV free-electron-laser (FEL) amplifier. When the amplification conditions were fulfilled, strong enhancement of the radiation intensity by a factor of 650 was observed. The random and uncontrollable spikes, which appeared in the spectra of the Self-Amplified Spontaneous Emission (SASE) based FEL radiation without the seeding source, were found to be suppressed drastically to form to a narrow-band, single peak profile at 61.2 nm. The properties of the seeded FEL radiation were well reproduced by numerical simulations. We discuss the future precept of the seeded FEL scheme to the shorter wavelength region.

-A7 were prepared with radiochemical yields of 23-28%. After purification,
Re-(CO)
-A7 showed a radiochemical purity of over 95%. In biodistribution experiments,
Re-labeled A7 showed high uptakes in the tumor.

Re-MAG3-HBP because it has been reported that the concurrent administration of
Tc-MAG3 and drugs with high affinity for serum protein enhanced total clearance and tissue distribution. The protein binding of
Re-MAG3-HBP in a human serum albumin solution was significantly decreased by the addition of ceftriaxone. In the biodistribution experiments, pretreatment with ceftriaxone enhanced the clearance of the radioactivity of
Re-MAG3-HBP in blood and nontarget tissues but had no effect on accumulation in bone. The findings suggested that the use of protein-binding competitive inhibitors would be effective in improving the pharmacokinetics of radiopharmaceuticals with high affinity for serum protein.

We developed a highly stable rhenium-186 (Re)-MAG3 complex-conjugated bisphosphonate, (
Re-MAG3-HBP), for the treatment of painful bone metastases. This agent showed a superior biodistribution as a bone-seeking agent in normal mice when compared with
Re-HEDP. In this study, we evaluated the therapeutic effects of
Re-MAG3-HBP using an animal model of bone metastasis. In the rats treated with
Re-HEDP, tumor growth was comparable to that in untreated rats. In contrast, when
Re-MAG3-HBP was administered, tumor growth was significantly inhibited. Allodynia induced by bone metastasis was attenuated by treatment with
Re-MAG3-HBP or
Re-HEDP, but
Re-MAG3-HBP tended to be more effective. These results indicate that
Re-MAG3-HBP could be useful as a therapeutic agent for the palliation of metastatic bone pain.

Re-MAMA-BP,
Re-MAMA-HBP showed a greater affinity for hydroxyapatite beads in vitro and accumulated a significantly higher level in the femur in vivo. Thus, the introduction of a hydroxyl group into
Re complex-conjugated bisphosphonates would be effective in enhancing accumulation in bone. These findings provide useful information on the design of bone-seeking therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals.

Establish a long term maintenance program The long term maintenance program during JPY2005 to 2014 were established based on the technical review on aging for the safety related structures, systems and components. It was evaluated that the inspection or renewal based on the long term maintenance program, in addition to the spontaneous inspection long-term schedule of the long term voluntary inspection plan, could prevent the loss of function of the safety related structures, systems and components in future.
