Decomposition of plastics using near critical or supercritical water is one of the promising methods to reduce micro plastics. To attain the optimization of the method for improving environmental friendliness, it is necessary to clarify the structural change of materials during the process. We, thus, investigated the decomposition processes of polystyrene particles dispersed in deuterated water (DO) during heating under near critical or supercritical conditions by using in situ small-angle neutron scattering. Under subcritical conditions, the PS particles were swollen by DO due to increased compatibility with temperature. Near the critical point in subcritical conditions, the cleavage of PS chains in the particles occurred, so that the swollen ratio was much enhanced though the PS particles kept their shapes. In a supercritical condition, the PS particles were degraded into oil including oligomers or monomers and the phase-separated structures with styrene-rich and DO-rich regions.

イオン加速器では、ビームの加速効率の向上、ビーム電流の蓄積等を目的に、イオンの価数を変換する手法(荷電変換手法)が良く用いられる。荷電変換はイオンビームと薄膜等の物質との相互作用で行うが、加速器の大強度化に伴い、ビーム負荷に耐えるターゲットの開発が必要となっている。真空中で破損しない薄膜として、エタノールおよび水銀の流体を検討した。これら二種の液体を真空中で流し、安定に膜を形成することを確認した。成膜中の圧力は、各液体の蒸気圧に近い値となった。エタノールに関しては、さらに良い圧力を得るために、低温下での蒸気圧の評価を行った。水銀に関しては、水銀蒸気を拡散させないトラップを開発し、98%以上の捕集効率を得られることを確認した。

In the case of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) thin films on a Si substrate, thermal annealing induces the formation of a layer of PMMA chains tightly adsorbed near the substrate interface, and the strongly adsorbed PMMA remains on the substrate, even after washing with toluene (hereinafter called adsorbed sample). Neutron reflectometry revealed that the concerned structure consists of three layers: an inner layer (tightly bound on the substrate), a middle layer (bulk-like), and an outer layer (surface) in the adsorbed sample. When an adsorbed sample was exposed to toluene vapor, it became clear that, between the solid adsorption layer (which does not swell) and bulk-like swollen layer, there was a "buffer layer" that could sorb more toluene molecules than the bulk-like layer. This buffer layer was found not only in the adsorbed sample but also in the standard spin-cast PMMA thin films on the substrate. When the polymer chains were firmly adsorbed and immobilized on the Si substrate, the freedom of the possible structure right next to the tightly bound layer was reduced, which restricted the relaxation of the conformation of the polymer chain strongly. The "buffer layer" was manifested by the sorption of toluene with different scattering length density contrasts.

Since the X-ray energy is shifted and/or broadened due to the -nucleus strong interaction compared to those calculated from electromagnetic interaction alone, the measurement of the energy shift, E, and the width, , give us information on the -nucleus potential. A serious problem in the measurement is the significant background derived from in-flight decay. A novel method of identifying stopped events using the nuclear emulsion was developed to realize the first atomic X-ray spectroscopy experiment as the J-PARC E07 experiment, which also aimed at searching for and hypernuclei in the emulsion. The X-rays emitted from Br and Ag atoms were measured using germanium detectors. No clear peaks were observed in the obtained spectra. However, we succeeded in reducing the background to 1/170 by this method employing coincidence measurements using nuclear emulsion and X-ray detectors.

We measured the neutron reflectivity (NR) of isotactic polypropylene (PP) thin films deposited on Si substrates modified by hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) at the saturated vapor pressure of deuterated water at 25C and 60C/85% RH to investigate the effect of HMDS on the interfacial water accumulation in PP-based polymer/inorganic filler nanocomposites and metal/resin bonding materials. We found that the amount of water accumulated at the PP/Si interface decreased with increasing immersion time of the Si substrate in a solution of HMDS in hexane prior to PP film deposition. During the immersion of the Si substrate, the HMDS molecules were deposited on the Si substrate as a monolayer without aggregation. Furthermore, the coverage of the HMDS monolayer on the Si substrate increased with increasing immersion time. At 60C and 85% RH, only a slight amount of interfacial water was detected after HMDS treatment for 1200 min. As a result, the maximum concentration of interfacial water was reduced to 0.1 from 0.3, where the latter corresponds to the PP film deposited on the untreated substrate.

Approximately 2400 elastic scattering events were identified from tagged particles in the momentum range 0.44 - 0.80 GeV/c. The differential cross sections of the elastic scattering were derived with much better precision than in previous experiments. The obtained differential cross sections were approximately 2 mb/sr or less, which were not as large as those predicted by the fss2 and FSS models based on the quark cluster model in the short-range region. By performing phase-shift analyses for the obtained differential cross sections, we experimentally derived the phase shifts of the and channels for the first time. The phase shift of the 3S1 channel, where a large repulsive core was predicted owing to the Pauli effect between quarks, was evaluated to be . If the sign of is assumed to be negative, the interaction in this channel is moderately repulsive, as the Nijmegen extended-sort-core models predicted.

Momentum-tagged s running in a liquid hydrogen target are accumulated by detecting the reaction with a high intensity beam of 20 M/spill. The differential cross sections of the elastic scattering were derived with a drastically improved accuracy by identifying approximately 4,500 events from 1.72 10 . The derived differential cross section shows a clear forward-peaking angular distribution for a momentum range from 470 to 850 MeV/. The accurate data will impose a strong constraint on the theoretical models of the baryon-baryon interactions.

J-PARC E07 is the most ambitious and complex emulsion experiment to date investigating double hypernuclei with Hybrid emulsion method. The physics run at the K1.8 beam line in the J-PARC hadron experimental facility have been completed in 2017. The emulsion sheets are presently being analyzed with dedicated optical microscopes. Current statistics are estimated to be more 3 times than that of previous experiments. Quantitative data on the and interaction are being accumulated successfully via analysis of double and hypernuclei. Multiple hypernucleus candidates suggests several features about hypernucleus that the identification efficiency of C is significantly higher than other mode, many daughters of C are identified as He or Be, and multiple bound states of exist in the N nucleus. An analysis of X-ray spectroscopy of hyperatoms are ongoing.

The reaction is an important elementary process to produce from a proton target and is a key for a scattering experiment where the momentum of should be tagged from the missing momentum of the reaction. However, the spectroscopy method has not been established yet due to the difficulty of the detection. Therefore, we have proposed a new detection method where and from the decay are measured by a forward magnetic spectrometer and a detector cluster surrounding the target, respectively. The feasibility of the detection method was confirmed by analyzing the J-PARC E40 data taken with such a detector system. In the analysis, 's were successfully identified in the missing mass spectrum of the reaction.

Kinematic calculations enabled a unique identification of the reaction process as NBe + He. For the binding energy of the hyperon in the -N system a value of MeV was deduced. The energy level of is likely a nuclear state which indicates a weak - coupling.

Data for momentum-tagged beam running in a liquid hydrogen target were accumulated by detecting the reaction with a high intensity beam of 20 M/spill. The number of the beam was about in total. The elastic scattering and the inelastic scattering events were successfully observed with about 100 times larger statistics than that in past experiments.

We investigated the polymer chain dynamics in a 2-3 nm thick poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) adsorption layer on a Si substrate with a native oxide layer via neutron reflectometry combined with toluene vapor-induced swelling. We can investigate the polymer chain dynamics difference in the film thickness direction by the difference in the degree of swelling of the polymer layers detected by neutron reflectometry. The mobility of the polymer chains depends on the distance from the substrate. The results elucidated that the interfacial layer with a thickness of approximately 1 nm did not swell at all with toluene vapor, which is a solvent for PVAc. Meanwhile, the surface layer excessively swells with toluene vapor compared to the bulk. This indicates that the polymer chain within the interfacial region is immobilized by the substrate through hydrogen-bonding interaction, but in the surface region, the surface effect overcomes this interfacial interaction. We concluded that the polymer chains in the adsorption layer are either strongly constrained to the substrate, owing to hydrogen bonding, or more mobile than the bulk, owing to the surface effect.

This particular form of interaction has been the basis for describing magnetic materials and their strain related applications, where strain induces changes of internal magnetic fields. Different from the magnetoelastic coupling, more than 40 years ago, it was proposed that surface acoustic waves may induce surface magnons via rotational motion of the lattice in anisotropic magnets. However, a signature of this magnon-phonon coupling mechanism, termed magneto-rotation coupling, has been elusive. Here, we report the first observation and theoretical framework of the magneto-rotation coupling in a perpendicular anisotropic ultra-thin lim Ta/CoFeB/MgO, which consequently induces nonreciprocal acoustic wave attenuation with an unprecedented ratio up to 100% rectification at a theoretically predicted optimized condition. Our work not only experimentally demonstrates a fundamentally new path for investigating magnon-phonon coupling, but also justifies the feasibility of the magneto-rotation coupling based application.

被引用回数:12 パーセンタイル:59.54(Chemistry, Multidisciplinary)We investigated in detail the structures in the poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) adsorption layers on a Si substrate, which remained on the substrate after immersing the relatively thick 30 - 50 nm films in hot water, by neutron reflectometry under humid conditions. For the PVA with a degree of saponification exceeding 98 mol %, the adsorption layer exhibits a three-layered structure in the thickness direction. The bottom layer is considered to be the so-called inner adsorption layer that is not fully swollen with water vapor. This may be because the polymer chains in the inner adsorption layer are strongly constrained onto the substrate, which inhibits water vapor penetration. The polymer chains in this layer have many contact points to the substrate via the hydrogen bonding between the hydroxyl groups in the polymer chain and the silanol groups on the surface of the Si substrate and consequently exhibit extremely slow dynamics. Therefore, it is inferred that the bottom layer is fully amorphous. Furthermore, we consider the middle layer to be somewhat amorphous because parts of the molecular chains are pinned below the interface between the middle and bottom layers. The molecular chains in the top layer become more mobile and ordered, owing to the large distance from the strongly constrained bottom layer; therefore, they exhibit a much lower degree of swelling compared to the middle amorphous layer. Meanwhile, for the PVA with a much lower degree of saponification, the adsorption layer structure consists of the two-layers. The bottom layer forms the inner adsorption layer that moderately swells with water vapor because the polymer chains have few contact points to the substrate. The molecular chains in the middle layer, therefore, are somewhat crystallizable because of this weak constraint.

J-PARC E40 aims to measure the differential cross sections of the elastic scatterings and the conversion. A clear peak of was observed in a missing mass spectrum of the reaction and recoil protons from the elastic scattering were successfully observed in the data taken in the summer 2018. The rest of data taking is coming in the spring 2019.

We performed a gamma-ray spectroscopy of at J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility in 2015. It is the first measurement of rays emitted from -shell hypernuclei. In this experiment, we determined the energy spacing between the ground state spin doublet, and states, as 316 keV. The excitation energies of and states are also determined to be 895 and 1266 keV, respectively. The energy spacing is found to be well reproduced by shell-model calculations which describe - and -shell hypernuclei well. The results show that the present theories of the interaction describe not only the light hypernuclei but also a heavier hypernucleus.

We measured the reaction spectra at 1.8 GeV/ for the graphite and the polyethylene targets in the J-PARC E05 pilot experiment. By comparing the spectra for these two targets, it was found that in the B nucleus is quite broadened. Furthermore, we also compared broadness of with obtained in the spectrum. seems to be much more broadened in nuclei than . We gave a possible interpretation, which is related to compositeness of decuplet baryons, for this situation.

The interaction is not much studied than the interaction. To understand the interaction, we study hypernuclei. As for the hypernucleus, only the ground state of has been observed. To obtain more information about the interaction, the excited state should be studied. Therefore, we measure the missing-mass of the He reaction at GeV/ and 2-14 at the J-PARC K1.8 beam line. The ground state of is observed whereas a peak of the excited states is not observed. We also observe suppression of the quasi-free process at smaller angles.
