Since 2014, Experimental ARea 2 (EAR2) is operational and delivers a neutron fluence of
neutrons per nominal proton pulse, which is 50 times higher than the one of the other experimental area. The high neutron flux at EAR2 results in high counting rates in the detectors that challenged the previously existing capture detection systems. For this reason, a Segmented Total Energy Detector (sTED) has been developed to overcome the limitations in the detector's response, by reducing the active volume and by using a photo-multiplier (PMT) optimized for high counting rates. This paper presents the main characteristics of the sTED, including energy and time resolution, response to
-rays, and provides details for the Pulse Height Weighting Technique (PHWT). The sTED has been validated to perform neutron-capture cross-section measurements in EAR2 in the neutron energy range from thermal up to at least 400 keV.

U(n, f) one, covering the energy range from the fission threshold up to 400 MeV. The results from the present work are compared with existing cross-section datasets and the observed discrepancies are discussed and analyzed.

-ray spectroscopy of the neutron-deficient, semi-magic isotope
Pb has been performed at the Argonne Gas-Filled Analyzer. A new 5.15(15)-
s isomeric state at only 308 keV above the spherical 3/2
ground state is identified and classified as a shape isomer. A strongly-coupled band is observed on top of the isomer, which is nearly identical to the one built on the prolate 7/2
[514] Nilsson state in the isotone
Hg. Based on this similarity and on the result of the potential-energy surface calculations, the new isomer in
Pb is proposed to originate from the same configuration. The retarded character of the 308-keV transition can be well explained by the significant difference between the prolate parent and spherical daughter configurations, leading to the shape isomerism. The combined results of the present work and the previous
-decay and laser spectroscopy studies present evidence for triple shape coexistence at low energy in the negative-parity configurations of
Pb, which is well reproduced by the potential-energy surface calculations.

GeV is measured with the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The results are based on the yield of high mass, like-sign muon pairs measured within the PHENIX muon arm acceptance (
). The
signal is extracted from like-sign dimuons by utilizing the unique properties of neutral
meson oscillation. We report a differential cross section of
nb for like-sign muons in the rapidity and
ranges
and
GeV/
, and dimuon mass of 5 - 10 GeV/
. The extrapolated total cross section at this energy for
production is
b. The total cross section is compared to a perturbative quantum chromodynamics calculation and is consistent within uncertainties. The azimuthal opening angle between muon pairs from
decays and their
distributions are compared to distributions generated using
, which includes next-to-leading order processes. The azimuthal correlations and pair
distribution are not very well described by
calculations, but are still consistent within uncertainties. Flavor creation and flavor excitation subprocesses are favored over gluon splitting.

decays in
collisions at
GeV at midrapidity. The angular distributions have been measured in three different polarization frames, and the three decay angular coefficients have been extracted in a full two-dimensional analysis. Previously, PHENIX saw large longitudinal net polarization at forward rapidity at the same collision energy. This analysis at midrapidity, complementary to the previous PHENIX results, sees no sizable polarization in the measured transverse momentum range of
GeV/
. The results are consistent with a previous one-dimensional analysis at midrapidity at
GeV. The transverse-momentum-dependent cross section for midrapidity
production has additionally been measured, and after comparison to world data we find a simple logarithmic dependence of the cross section on

. Light pseudoscalars interacting predominantly with standard model gauge bosons (so-called axion-like particles or ALPs) are frequently postulated in extensions of the standard model. We find no evidence for ALPs and set 95% confidence level upper limits on the coupling strength
of ALPs to photons at the level of
GeV
. The limits are the most restrictive to date for
GeV/
.

isomer have been deduced. The observed large isomer shift relative to the
ground state in
Au confirms the occurrence of the shape coexistence in
Au proposed earlier from the analysis of the nuclear spectroscopic data and particle plus triaxial rotor calculations. The analysis of the magnetic moment supports the previously proposed

[541] assignment at moderate prolate deformation for
Au

ミュオン加速のための加速器を開発中である。この加速器により、ミュオンの異常磁気モーメントを0.1ppmの精度で、また電気双極子モーメントを10
cmの精度で測定することが可能となり、素粒子の標準理論をこえる物理の探索ができるようになる。最初のステップとして、ミュオンの加速試験を行う予定である。そのための負ミュオニウム源を開発し、既存のJ-PARC RFQ予備機を用いる。また、それに続く低ベータおよび中ベータ加速空洞も開発中である。低ベータにはinterdigital H構造、中ベータにはdisk and washer structureを用いる。本論文では、ミュオン加速試験の準備状況および、加速空洞の開発状況について述べる。

for identified pions and (anti)protons at midrapidity (
), in 0% - 5% central
+ Au and
He + Au collisions at
= 200 GeV. When taken together with previously published measurements in
+ Au collisions at
= 200 GeV, the results cover a broad range of small-collision-system multiplicities and intrinsic initial geometries. We observe a clear mass-dependent splitting of
in
+ Au and
He + Au collisions, just as in large nucleus-nucleus (
+
) collisions, and a smaller splitting in
+ Au collisions. Both hydrodynamic and transport model calculations successfully describe the data at low
(
GeV/
), but fail to describe various features at higher
. In all systems, the
values follow an approximate quark-number scaling as a function of the hadron transverse kinetic energy per constituent quark(
), which was also seen previously in
+
collisions.

The first
-ray spectroscopy of
-shell hypernucleus,
F, is performed in June, 2015 at the J-PARC K1.8 beam line (J-PARC E13). Precise energy levels of
F can be revealed by measured
rays in this experiment. Especially, the strength of
spin-spin interaction in
-shell hypernucleus is obtained through the energy spacing of the ground-state doublet of the hypernucleus. By comparing its strength between the
,
, and
-shell hypernuclei, a radial dependence
interaction is investigated. The hypernucleus is produced through the
reaction with the beam momentum of 1.8 GeV/c. In very preliminary results, we observed two
rays, and their energies are
keV and
keV where the uncertainties are only statistical.

Hを生成する実験を試みた。
Hは中性子4個, 陽子1個, ラムダ粒子1個からなるハイパー核で非常に陽子中性子比が大きいため、中性子過剰な中性子星の研究において大変重要な役割を果たす。そのハイパー核をJ-PARCにおいて生成し、生成断面積の上限値を与えた。
