Magnetic neutron elastic scattering, which is absent in a pristine sample, has been observed at incommensurate positions with an incommensurability of 0.2. Surprisingly, this anomalously large follows a linear relation even in the overdoped region, unlike for LaSrCuO. We discuss this specific feature observed in the overdoped phase from a dynamical stripe viewpoint.

Ni substitution reduces the mobile hole concentration from down to - . Polarized XAFS measurements using Ni -edge probe two types of Ni valence states; Ni and Ni. It indicates that a strong hole localization occurs around Ni, resulting in an effective spin- value at Ni sites. Therefore, a charge impurity nature of Ni is most likely realized when .

It is known that the in-gap band appears when charge carriers are doped into the charge-transfer-type Mott insulators. A possible origin of the in-gap band has been proposed by Homes et al. on the basis of the charge stripes which have been comprehensively studied by neutron scattering. Motivated by this proposal, we have performed a resonant inelastic X-ray scattering experiment at the Ni-K edge on LaSrNiO where a robust charge stripe order has been characterized. In this talk, we will report the results of this experiment showing that an additional charge excitation appears at the momentum transfer corresponding to the charge stripe spacing.

Polarized neutron scattering is a powerful technique in order to clarify the magnetic structure of materials. The technique is often used in JRR-3 nowadays. However, the available energy has been limited below 100 meV as long as we use the conventional polarizing method. To realize polarized neutron scattering experiments above the energy, the use of He spin filters is the best solution. In addition, in the new pulsed neutron facility, J-PARC, the neutron source has wide energy spectrum. To polarize all the neutrons, it is desired to use the He spin filters. Taking these backgrounds into account, we are now planning to introduce He neutron spin filters to polarized neutron experiments at JRR-3 and J-PARC. In our oral presentation, we report the detailed plan of the experiments and the present status of the preparation.

As a part of development of diamond energy spectrometers using the C(n,)Be reaction for DT plasma ion temperature measurement, response functions measurement of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) single crystal diamonds for alpha particles and 14 MeV neutrons were carried out. One diamond sample was synthesized by the national institute of advanced industrial science and technology (AIST) aiming at a large size and high-quality substrate for electric device with higher methane concentration of 10%. This diamond crystal was chosen according to intensity of free exciton recombination luminescence. In addition, a CVD single crystal diamond, categorized in "detector grade" synthesized by Element 6 Inc. was evaluated.Response function measurement of 14 MeV neutrons were carried out at the Fusion Neutronic Source facility of Japan Atomic Energy Agency. Energy resolutions of 4.3% and 5.2% for the C(n,)Be reaction were obtained by the two CVD diamond single crystals. In general, energy spectrometer grade CVD diamond single crystals are grown using lower methane concentration, i.e., 1%. However, this results revealed that even higher methane concentration of 10% can grow energy spectrometer grade CVD diamond single crystals.
