Dubnium-262 was produced in the Cm(F, 5) reaction at the JAEA tandem accelerator. Adsorption of Db on the anion-exchange resin was investigated in 0.89 M HF/0.3 M HNO solution. The anion-exchange behavior of Nb, Ta, and Pa as homologues of Db was also examined in details in HF/HNO solutions. From the comparison of those results, we found that the adsorption of Db on the anion-exchange resin is considerably weaker than that of Ta and is relatively similar to those of Nb and Pa in the studied conditions.

Anion-exchange behavior of Db (half-life = 34 s) produced in the Cm(F, 5) reaction at the JAEA tandem accelerator was investigated in the mixed 0.89 M HF/0.3 M HNO solution ([F] = 3 10 M) with the automated ion-exchange separation apparatus coupled with the detection system for alpha-spectroscopy (AIDA). Anion-exchange behavior of its lighter homologues, Nb and Ta, was also studied under the same conditions using Nb ( = 14.3 min) and Ta ( = 6.76 min) produced in the Ge(F, ) and Gd(F, ) reactions, respectively. It was found that the adsorption probability on the anion-exchange resin is in the order of Ta Nb Db under the present condition.

Dubnium-262 was produced in the nuclear reaction of Cm(F,5n)Db using the JAEA Tandem accelerator. The reaction products were rapidly transported to the chemistry laboratory and the anion-exchange behavior of Db in HF/HNO media was investigated with an on-line rapid ion-exchange apparatus. Based on the comparison of the behavior of Db with that of its homologues (Nb, Ta, and Pa), the fluoride complex formation of Db was discussed.

SENJU is a new single crystal diffractometer for spallation neutron source in Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF) at Japan Photon Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC). It is currently under construction and is scheduled to be complete by spring 2011. The diffractometer is esigned to perform diffraction experiment under various environmental conditions, and the crystal and magnetic structure of materials whose lattice constants up to 50 will be studied. SENJU also shed light on the superlattice reflection or diffuse scattering in the reciprocal lattice space to analyze the local structures as well as phase transitions of the materials. At the beginning, the diffractometer will have 31 two-dimensional scintillation detectors to observe the wide area of reciprocal lattice space by one measurement. Various sample environments will be provided, such as cryogenic cooling and magnetic field.

A new single crystal neutron diffractometer SENJU is now under construction at a high pace in MLF at J-PARC. SENJU will realize precise structure analysis under the combined extreme conditions such as high-magnetic field and low temperature. The construction will be completed at the end of 2010 fiscal year, and has aimed at the first beam acceptance before the summer of 2011. In the presentation, detailed instrument specs will be introduced, and a concrete sample environment etc. will be described.

A new single crystal neutron diffractometer SENJU is now being built at a rapid rate in BL18 of MLF at J-PARC. The instrument realize measurements using small sample, less than 1.0 under combined special environment at 1 MW beam power. We designed the beamline specification considering sample size and its mosaicity, spacial resolution of the area detector, and so on. The concrete design input and their detailed investigation process of the beamline will be presented.

SENJU, named after the thousand armed Goddess of Mercy, is a single crystal time-of-flight Laue diffractometer proposed to the MLF at J-PARC. The diffractometer is dedicated for precise crystal and magnetic structure analyses under the combined extreme conditions using a small sample less than 1 . TOF-Laue technique coupled with wide area 2D detectors enables the efficient measurements and improves the completeness of the data. A WLSF-type scintillator detector developed for iBIX was modified to meet the requirements of SENJU. Although the construction schedule has been delayed because of the earthquake, on-beam commissioning will start in 2012.

SENJU is a new single crystal time-of-flight neutron diffractometer installed at BL18 of J-PARC. SENJU is designed for precise crystal and magnetic structure analyses under multiple extreme environments such as low-temperature, high-pressure and high-magnetic field, and also designed for diffraction measurements of small single crystals less than 1.0 mm in volume. We have successfully achieved structure analysis of a laboratory X-ray size (0.1 mm) single organic crystal, measurement and visualization of a complex-shape diffuse scattering pattern and measurement of higher order magnetic reflections in high-Q region (Q16 ) by using SENJU. Those results show that the performance of SENJU is as we expected.

The single crystal diffractometer, SENJU, which just became open for users, is the instrument designed to perform structure analyses under multiple extreme conditions even with tiny samples. Additional six detectors and T0 chopper were installed in order to improve the data collection efficiency and the background noise arises from the burst neutron. The solid angle covarage increased by 1.2 with the six new detectors, and significant reduction of the background noises were confirmed especially on the detectors at highest and lowest angles.
