A magnetic sensor which can be applied to measurement at elevated temperature was newly developed. It is a kind of flux gate magnetic sensor. Permendur was employed for a magnetic core instead of Permalloy which is commonly used because Permendur has much higher Curie point, about 1000C. Heat resistant ceramic coating Cu wires were used for coils. External magnetic field is detected by shift of peak position of differential permeability during induction of triangular excitation current. A magnetic core has race track shape with a fine part to make peak position more clear and increase detectability. The output of the developed sensor showed good linearity with external magnetic field even at 500C. Furthermore, the durability of the sensor was discussed, and it was shown that decrease in coil performance after some operation at elevated temperature seems to be a critical issue.

TRL1215 cells (normal rat liver cell line) were treated with 0, 0.1, or 1.0 mg/mL fucoidan. The cellular distribution of elements was analyzed using in-air micro-PIXE induced X-ray emission. In fucoidan-treated cells, the focal accumulation of Br (BrdU) was correlated spatially with phosphorous-rich region, suggesting that Br was localized within the nucleus. Al distribution provided a spatial association with Br map. These data suggest that fucoidan binding Al us postulated to be transferred into the nucleus.

A new program was started out to create a new medical scientific field, which is consisting of radiation oncology and nuclear medicine, utilizing the advanced accelerator and ion beam technology. An in-air micro-PIXE analyzer system, which is among the most important technical basis of the program, was upgraded to improve accuracy of elemental mapping for samples having thickness variation in a scope of microbeam scanning. In the program, on the other hand, in order to approach important bio-medical problems on cancer, intracellular dynamics of the trace elements according to mechanism of development of diseases were studied using this system. This paper outlines this program and shows the system upgraded, and results of preliminary studied about the problems.

A heat-resistant flux gate magnetic sensor has been developed. Permendur, which has high Curie temperature, is employed as the magnetic core material and the detection method of the external magnetic field is modified. The characteristics of the developed magnetic sensor at 300C were evaluated. The sensor output increases linearly with the external magnetic field in the range of 5 G and the sensitivity is about 0.89 G.

A hear-resistant magnetic sensor was newly developed. Permendur, a high Curie temperature material, was employed as a magnetic core material, and magnetic detection principle was modified by taking the magnetic property of Permendur into account. It was shown that sensor output is linear with respect to external magnetic field at least up to 500C, though sensitivity decreased slightly with temperature. Effect of oxidation of magnetic core was investigated, but it was concluded that oxidation of magnetic core is not major factor of decreasing in sensitivity.
