Based on the regulations (the safety regulation of Tokai reprocessing plant, the safety regulation of nuclear fuel material usage facilities, the radiation safety rule, the regulation about prevention from radiation hazards due to radioisotopes, which are related with the nuclear regulatory acts, the local agreement concerning with safety and environment conservation around nuclear facilities, the water pollution control law, and bylaw of Ibaraki prefecture), the effluent control of liquid waste discharged from the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories of Japan Atomic Energy Agency has been performed. This report describes the effluent control results of the liquid waste in the fiscal year 2013. In this period, the concentrations and the quantities of the radioactivity in liquid waste discharged from the reprocessing plant, the plutonium fuel fabrication facilities, and the other nuclear fuel material usage facilities were much lower than the limits authorized by the above regulations.

JRR-3 process control computer system is used to monitor and control various process parameters such as flow rates, temperatures, pressures and so on, and operate many reactor components such as cooling pumps and valves. The system has been under aging degradation at this time and the renewal of the system has become indispensable. The renewal work has planned, paying a due consideration to minimizing renewal costs and duration, to be separated in three stages. This paper describes the renewal plan and renewal works of main part of the system.

We present the inverse slope parameter, mean transverse momentum, and yield per unit rapidity at each energy, and compare them to other measurements at different collisions. We also present the scaling properties such as and scaling and discuss the mechanism of the particle production in collisions. The measured spectra are compared to next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations.

Here we extend these studies to two particle correlations where one particle is an electron from the decay of a heavy flavor meson and the other is a charged hadron from either the decay of the heavy meson or from jet fragmentation. These measurements provide more detailed information about the interaction between heavy quarks and the quark-gluon matter. We find the away-side-jet shape and yield to be modified in Au+Au collisions compared to collisions.

In order to sustain safe and stable operation of JRR-3, it is necessary to measure and indicate appropriately the process values such as flow rate of coolant with the process instrumentation facilities of JRR-3. Whenever reactor facilities such as cooling pump or measuring device are maintained or refurbished, the process instrumentation facilities are calibrated with the appropriate criteria established by considering overall accuracy of the facilities. In this report, for all of the safety protection system, a part of the process instrumentation facilities, accuracy of each component and overall accuracy of the system are compiled. Using these date, the process instrumentation facilities would be maintained more effectively and objectively.

The hydrophobicity and functional groups of ILs have a great influence on protein partitioning, and a hydroxyl group-containing IL with DCH18C6 is capable of the quantitative partitioning of Cyt-. UV-Vis, CD, and resonance Raman spectroscopic characterizations indicate that the sixth ligand Met 80 in the heme group of the Cyt--DCH18C6 complex in IL is replaced by other amino acid residues of the peptide chain, and that a non-natural six-coordinate, low-spin ferric heme structure is induced in IL. Solubilization of Cyt- in IL causes the environmental change of the heme vicinity of Cyt-, which triggers the functional conversion of Cyt- from an electron-transfer protein to peroxidase. The Cyt--DCH18C6 complex in IL provides remarkably high peroxidase activity compared with native Cyt-, because of enhancement of the affinity for HO.

It has been found that the //a ferroelectric phase induced by the application of a magnetic field at low temperatures is characterized by commensurate lattice modulation along the orthorhombic axis with q=1/2 and q=1/4. The lattice modulation is ascribed to antiferromagnetic spin alignment with a modulation vector of (0 1/4 1). The change of the spin structure is directly correlated with the magnetic-field-induced electric phase transition, because any commensurate spin modulation with (0 1/4 1) should break glide planes normal to the axis of the distorted perovskite with the space group.

We have performed Si nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments using single crystal of strongly correlated electrons system URuSi under high external field of about 24 T. The temperature dependence of NMR shift in the paramagnetic state varies with external fields. The temperature and field dependences of NMR shifts resembles those of magnetic susceptibility.
