Status of operation data archiving system using Hadoop/HBase for J-PARC

J-PARC (Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex) consists of much equipment. In Linac and 3 GeV rapid cycling synchrotron ring (RCS), the data of over the 64,000 EPICS records for these equipment has been collected. The Data volume is about 2 TB in every year, and the stored total data volume is about 10 TB. The data have been being stored by a Relational Data Base (RDB) system using PostgreSQL, but it is not enough in availability, performance, and capability to increase of data volume flexibility. Hadoop/HBase, which is known as a distributed, scalable and big data store, has been proposed for our next-generation archive system to solve these problems. The test system was built and verified about data transition or database utilization. This report shows the current status of the new archive system, and its advantages and problems which have been obtained through our verification.

The substance and implication of PR from the viewpoints of risk evaluation on nuclear proliferation was studied in this paper. As an example, ten next-generation reprocessing technology candidates were evaluated with GIF PR and PP methodology to find degree of relative difference in PR from the presently available technology - PUREX. PR effectiveness in proliferation risk was also assessed and it was found that the effectiveness of PR measures is subject to the status of each nation.

Observation of the signal increase for electrochemical devices placed near PWR and intense tritium source

Our group has experience to carry out the experiment with small electrochemical devices at heavy-water-moderated Advanced Thermal Reactor (ATR, FUGEN), and observed a clear signal increase near the reactor core. The present study is aiming at demonstrating the response of the electrochemical device to tritium amount. The experiments were performed at (1) Pressurized right Water Reactor (PWR, tritium amount of 30 g and a great quantity of beta emitters) at a distance of 26 m from the core, and (2) Tritium Process Laboratory of Japan Atomic Energy Agency (TPL, tritium amount ~10 g) at a position of 8.6 m from the source. Signal increase was observed in both measurements. Analysis made clear that the detector signal is ascribed to the amount of low-energy beta emitters of plutonium 241 and tritium in the PWR experiment while it is attributed to the quantity of tritium in the TPL measurement.
