The in-vessel neutron flux monitor equipped with Microfission Chambers (MFCs) has been developed. Since in-vessel components of the MFC are exposed to the extreme ITER environment, such as high radiation, high temperature and high electromagnetic (EM) forces, those components need to withstand such ITER environment. In this study, the in-vessel components of the MFC have been developed in order to apply ITER conditions. For these components, several cases of analyses (neutronic, thermal and EM analysis) and soundness verification tests (high-temperature, vibration and noise immunity test) have been conducted. As a result, it is demonstrated that the in-vessel components of the MFC can be used in the extreme ITER environments for 20 years without any replacements.

Development of CO$$_{2}$$ laser interferometer/polarimeter system for JT-60SA has progressed. The CO$$_{2}$$ laser interferometer/polarimeter system consists of a two color heterodyne interferometer and a polarimeter based on dual PEMs. In JT-60SA, the laser interferometer/ polarimeter system is located in a diagnostic room apart from the tokamak hall, and the laser transmission length is about 200 m. Therefore, it is a key issue for the reliable measurement to transmit the laser light with high stability for the long distance. To realize the stable long-distance transmission, new technologies are developed including a laser spectral beam profile monitor for two color lasers and a laser axis stabilizing system. In addition, a new method for expansion of polarization angle is developed to improve measurement resolution of the polarimeter.

Japan Domestic Agency (JADA) is responsible for six diagnostic systems in the ITER project. We have successfully developed an instrumentation and control (I&C) system for the diagnostic systems. The I&C system manages internal operations for measurement such as health checks of sensors, configuration of measurement parameters, and consistency checks between measurement parameters. We developed a conversion tool to convert operational flowcharts to EPICS records. The sequencing management function coordinates the execution of operation steps by monitoring changes in the record values. It was designed so that the relationship between the records and steps is determined automatically according to the flowcharts as much as possible. We validated the performance of the I&C system for the thermocouple measurement system, and are continuing the development of even more complex I&C systems for other JADA diagnostic systems.

Design study of a wide-angle infrared (IR) thermography and visible observation diagnostics for JT-60SA are reported. In order to image a large section inside the vacuum vessel (both in poloidal and toroidal directions), the optical system of endoscope is to provide a wide-angle view in the IR and visible range, which is being designed with a field of view of 106 degrees vertical and 63 degrees horizontal. The estimated spatial resolution is better than a few cm at a distance of 7.6 m from the front optics with a slit diameter of 4 mm.
