AMATERAS is a cold-neutron disk-chopper spectrometer in MLF, J-PARC. The construction of main part of the spectrometer has been completed in spring of 2009. Soon after that, we have started the commissioning work on AMATERAS. The performance of AMATERAS has been examined by test experiments in the course of commissioning. In parallel to these works, we have started the user program on AMATERAS from December 2009 and we are getting scientific results from our spectrometer. In this presentation, we will report the current status of AMATERAS including the results of performance tests and some of examples of scientific outputs.

In the JT-60 tokamak at JAERI, environment for remote participation is planned to be developed by concentrating experts of nuclear fusion research of another research organizations and universities distributed all over the country. We are constructing a hierarchical remote research system, which consists of remote experiment, remote analysis, and remote diagnostic. In a remote collaboration, it is important to maintain the security of the system, as well as to share the information, atmosphere and presence between the participants. For the latter purpose, we developed a video conferencing system, and a video streaming system that can deliver the images of the JT-60 control room. Furthermore, a development of the remote analysis system called "VizAnalysis" has been started. And to assist the remote analysis, we developed a web based software system called "VizSquare". In the JT-60 tokamak at JAERI, security and authentication methods on a computer network and a new communication tool are developed, and probably they will be applied to the remote participation of ITER.

To establish sealing technique suitable for geological environmental conditions of Japan, it is necessary to obtain data related with this sealing function through laboratory tests and in-situ tests. It also is necessary to put these data to practical use and to establish the estimating method of the sealing technique. This report deals with the sealing function tests under heating condition of supplying water, following the pressurized tests of supplying water at the AECL in Canada until last year. These test results are reported here together with the data, interpretation and analysis of tracer test results. Information arrangement for the establishment of estimation method of sealing function is also performed.

For the open use of MLF neutron source, robustness (senses including tolerance, stability, acceptable outer affairs) of neutron devices against power noise must be estimated for surely acquition of neutron experimental data. For this purpose, we measure the groundline and power-line shape synclonized with many events, such as crane, chopper, neutron shutter and them on. This data is very usable to solve some accident, such as shutter keeping close. In this presentation, we will show some our solutions.

4SEASONS is high intensity chopper specrometor for the study of solid state physics such as superconductivity and so on. To archive needed intensity, supermirror guide is selected as a key compornent and the allingment of it is one of key technology. So we install supermirror system in the beamline of 4SEASONS and set up precisery, and measure C-TOF signals. To compare them with calculated one, the allignmet is good enough to archive the needed efficiency of 4SEASONS.

AMATERAS is a cold-neutron disk-chopper spectrometer in Materials and Life science Facility in J-PARC. By combination of high-peak intensity from a H$${_2}$$-coupled moderator source and newly developed high-speed disk-choppers (the maximum revolution: 350Hz, the minimum burst time: 7.6 $$mu$$sec.) for pulse shaping and monochromating, the spectrometer realizes both high-resolution ($$Delta$$$$E/Emathrm{_i}>1%$$) and high-intensity (one order of magnitude higher than the present state-of-the-art chopper spectrometers) in the range of $$Emathrm{_i}=1sim20$$ meV, and can show sufficient performance up to $$Emathrm{_i}<$$80 meV. Construction of AMTERAS has been completed in March 2009 and the spectrometer is at commissioning phase. In this presentation, we will report the current status of AMATERAS including the first results obtained at commissioning.

Implementation of high temperature structure monitor system using heat resistant fiber Bragg grating sensors

no journal, ,

We developed the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor system with high temperature tolerance for a deterioration evaluation of passing year and seismic safety in nuclear power plant. We examined the heating tolerance and the load transformation of the reinforced FBG sensor system. As a result, the strengthening FBG sensor was an excellent adhesion performance in the environment of 400 $$^{circ}$$C or less. Additionally, the load transformation examination was executed under the high temperature environment, and it was confirmed that the measurement of the amount of the transformation was possible with strengthening FBG sensor.

AMATERAS is a cold-neutron disk-chopper spectrometer installed at beam-line No. 14 at Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF) at J-PARC. Owing to the use of newly developed high-speed disk choppers and the high peak intensity from the coupled moderator source of MLF, the AMATERAS design to realize high-intensity and fine and flexible energy resolution measurements in quasielastic and inelastic neutron scattering experiments in cold and sub-thermal neutron energy region. In this presentation, we will show the current status of AMATEAS including the results of performance tests and some of examples of scientific outputs.
