Times Cited Count:25 Percentile:79.73(Materials Science, Multidisciplinary)Crystal and magnetic structures of the mineral centennialite CaCu(OD)Cl 0.6DO are investigated by means of synchrotron X-ray diffraction and neutron diffraction measurements complemented by density functional theory (DFT) and pseudofermion functional renormalization group (PFFRG) calculations. In CaCu(OD)Cl 0.6DO, Cu ions form a geometrically perfect kagome network with antiferromagnetic . No intersite disorder between Cu and Ca ions is detected. CaCu(OD)Cl 0.6DO enters a magnetic long-range ordered state below = 7.2 K, and the =0 magnetic structure with negative vector spin chirality is obtained. The ordered moment at 0.3 K is suppressed to 0.58(2)B. Our DFT calculations indicate the presence of antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic superexchange couplings of a strength which places the system at the crossroads of three magnetic orders (at the classical level) and a spin- PFFRG analysis shows a dominance of =0 type magnetic correlations, consistent with and indicating proximity to the observed =0 spin structure. The results suggest that this material is located close to a quantum critical point and is a good realization of a -- kagome antiferromagnet.

Extracting hierarchical structures from networks provides us with an effective means of visualizing them, especially when they contain complicated node connectivities such as those in traffic and distributed networks. This paper presents an algorithm for inferring such partial orders by optimizing the network hierarchies along flow paths that are given as input. We study several network examples to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach including course dependency charts, railway networks, and P2P networks.

This report presents a method for visualizing scale-free networks including Overlay networks as an typical example. Visualizing large-scale and complicated networks such as social networks has recently been very popular while conventional network visualization techniques cannot allow us to understand the topological structure of the scale-free networks. This is because the vertex degrees vary at an exponential rate in the scale-free network and thus special attention should be given when visualizing the network connectivity and analyzing the network traffic there. In this report, we employ the hierarchical representation of the scale-free network by referring to their vertex degrees and autonomous system relationships, so that we can clearly visualize the topological structure of the network in 3D space and retrieve the traffic paths over the network.

Times Cited Count:15 Percentile:77.17(Chemistry, Multidisciplinary)Plutonyl(VI) nitrate complexes with N-cyclohexyl-2-pyrrolidone (NCP) and N-neopentyl-2-pyrrolidone (NNpP) were prepared, and their molecular and crystal structures were determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. The obtained compounds have the similar composition, PuO(NO)(NRP) (NRP = NCP, NNpP), which are analogous to the corresponding U(VI) complexes. Both PuO(NO)(NRP) complexes show typical structural properties of actinyl(VI) nitrates, i.e., hexagonal-bipyramidal geometry consisting of two NRP molecules and two NO ions located in trans positions in the equatorial plane of PuO moiety. These findings provide one of criteria in selection of suitable NRP as a precipitation agent for the spent nuclear fuel reprocessing based on the precipitation method.

In this system, first only U(IV) species are precipitated using pyrrolidone derivative with low hydrophobicity and donicity, and secondly residual U(VI) and Pu(IV, VI) are precipitated simultaneously using pyrrolidone derivative with high precipitation ability. In this study, we have examined precipitation behavior of U(VI), Pu(IV), and Pu(VI) species in nitric acid solutions by using --propyl-2-pyrrolidone (NProP), -butyl-2-pyrrolidone (NBP), --butyl-2-pyrrolidone (NiBP), or -cyclohexyl-2-pyrrolidone (NCP) to select the precipitants for the first precipitation process. As a result, NBP were found to be the most promising precipitant for the first precipitation process.

Multiple-implantation at RT was done to form box profile of Eu at a mean Eu concentration from 2.810 to 2.810/cm. Samples were annealed in NH, N at 900-1050C for 5-30 min after implantation. As the result, sharp emission peaks around 621nm which is assigned as 4f-4f transition were observed. The intensity of peaks increases with increasing Eu concentration and saturate at Eu concentrations around 2.810/cm.

In recent years, file-sharing applications have been widely used, and demand for analysis of the log data from the file-sharing process has increased. Visualization techniques are effective for the analysis of such log data. In this study, we propose a new network graph visualization technique with new node layout method for analyzing the file-sharing process using geographic information and the network hierarchical optimization. We applied the proposed technique to a log data of a file-sharing application.

We have been developing an advanced reprocessing system for spent FBR fuels based on precipitation method using pyrrolidone derivatives. In previous investigation, N-cyclohexyl-2-pyrrolidone (NCP) is used as a precipitant, which is able to precipitate selectively UO ions in HNO solution, and a process consisting of two separation steps; selective U precipitation step and U-Pu co-precipitation step, was developed. In order to make the process more effective and more economical, we are now studying precipitation of U and Pu with other pyrrolidone derivatives. The outline of the study and main results obtained until now are shown in this presentation.

Precipitation behavior of Pu with pyrrolidone derivatives of N-(1,2-dimethyl)propyl-2-pyrrolidone (NDMProP) and N-neopenthyl-2-pyrrolidone (NNpP) in the solutions of U-Pu mixture has been examined in order to evaluate their applicability to the U-Pu co-precipitation process in the reprocessing based only on precipitation method. We have previously developed a process with N-cyclohexyl-2-pyrrolidone (NCP). It was found that U(VI) was precipitated in a high yield with any of the three precipitants and the precipitation yield of Pu(IV) was increased with the added amount of the precipitants. When NNpP was added with the ratio of [NNpP]/[U+Pu]=2.5, 99.5% of Pu was precipitate. Since NNpP showed the highest precipitation ability for Pu(IV) and the best physical property as precipitate, NNpP would be the most appropriate precipitant for the U-Pu co-precipitation process.
