Cm collisions were investigated using a stacked-foil technique and radiochemical separations. In previous studies, isotopic distributions of the products of below-target isotopes were found to be broader than those of above-target isotopes, which had been interpreted as larger contributions of strongly dumped collisions in the productions of below-target isotopes than above-target ones. However, in the present study, the average total kinetic energy loss (TKEL), and thus, the average excitation energies were determined for both below-target and above-target isotopes, and they were found to be similar. This contradicts the previous interpretation, and thus, a new interpretation has been proposed; highly excited above-target products are lost by fission.

P
O
using neutron powder diffraction experiments. The incommensurate propagation vector is expressed as [0,
, 0], due to competition between the nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor interactions in trimerized chains. The value of
is 0.316 to 0.331, changing rapidly at
K. We confirmed that the intra-trimer
interaction is AF. The magnetic excitation peaks were obsereved at 0.46, 0.68, and 1.02 meV. The weak Q dependence indicates the discrete energy levels, which do not contradict the AF trimer model with the intra-trimer interaction value of 0.29 meV (3.4 K).

Neutron Scattering study has been carried out in order to reveal the magnetic structure of the antiferromagnet HoPd
, which shows giant magnetocaloric effect. We observed short rage magnetic order at k=0.18, 0.18, 0.18 above the antiferromagnetic transition temperature
. Tb
Pd
also showed magnetic short range correlation above the temperature higher than 2

Antiferromagnetic HoPd
(
K) with cubic structure accompanies very large magneto-calorimetric eefect (MCE) at 34K. We showed that this compound remains short range order with incommensurate modulation
[0.18,0.18,0.18] developing at low temperatures. The short range correlation increases below 70K in Tb
Pd
(
K).
