In this study, thermophysical properties such as density and viscosity were obtained for (FeO)-(SiO), which is a representative composition in the early stage of severe accident. (FeO)-(SiO) is produced by the contact between the molten oxide of steel, which is the main component of the reactor, and SiO, which is the main component of concrete. As a result, the physical properties of the (FeO)-(SiO) mixture were almost the same as those of FeO obtained in previous studies, and it could be concluded that a small amount of SiO (about 5 mol.%) did not significantly affect the fluidity of FeO.

A large amount of radioactive material was released by the nuclear disaster of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS), Tokyo Electric Power Company, caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the following tsunami on March 11, 2011. After the nuclear disaster, airborne radiation monitoring using manned helicopter has been utilized to grasp rapidly and widely the distribution of the radioactive materials around FDNPS. We prepare the data of background radiation dose, geomorphic characteristics and the controlled airspace around nuclear facilities of the whole country in order to make effective use of the monitoring technique as a way of emergency radiation monitoring and supply the results during accidents of the facilities. Furthermore, the airborne radiation monitoring has been conducted in Integrated Nuclear Emergency Response Drill to increase effectiveness of the monitoring. This report is summarized that the knowledge as noted above achieved by the aerial radiation monitoring around Higashidori nuclear power station, the nuclear fuel reprocessing plant in Rokkasho village and Shika nuclear power station, the full details of the aerial radiation monitoring in Integrated Nuclear Emergency Response Drill in the fiscal 2019. In addition, examination's progress aimed at introduction of airborne radiation monitoring using unmanned helicopter during nuclear disaster and the technical issues are summarized in this report.

The Japan Atomic Energy Agency has conducted a monthly monitoring of airborne C discharge at the forth research building (RI facility) of the Tokai Research and Development Center. In the current monitoring, C, which exists in various chemical forms in airborne effluent, is converted into CO with CuO catalyst and then collected using monoethanolamine (MEA) as CO absorbent. However, this collection method has some issues on safety management because the CuO catalyst requires a high heating temperature (600C) to ensure a high oxidation efficiency and the MEA is specified as a poisonous and deleterious substance. To establish a safer, manageable and reliable method for monitoring airborne C discharge, we examined collection methods that use different CO absorbents (MEA and Carbo-Sorb E) and oxidation catalysts (CuO, Pt/Alumina and Pd/ZrO). The results showed 100% CO collection efficiency of MEA during a 30-day sampling period under the condition tested. In contrast, Carbo-Sorb E was found to be unsuitable for the monthly-long CO collection because of its high volatile nature. Among the oxidation catalysts, the Pd/ZrO showed the highest oxidation efficiency for CH at a lower temperature.

Due to the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant caused by the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake occurred at 11th March 2011, the emergency environmental radiation monitoring was conducted at Nuclear Science Research Institute, Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). This report provides the monitoring results of ambient -ray dose rate and atmospheric radioactivity concentration until the beginning of June 2011. Some anthropogenic radionuclides such as Cs-134, Cs-137, I-131, I-132, Te-132, Xe-133 and others were detected from air samples. The atmospheric radioactivity concentrations varied with some peaks corresponded with that of ambient -ray dose rate after 15th March 2011. Composition of each peak showed various characteristic. Internal exposure caused by inhalation was estimated from the observed atmospheric radioactivity.

Photons and charged particles were measured by the PHENIX experiment. Event structure was compared with the results from PYTHIA event generator. The production rate of reconstructed jets is satisfactorily reproduced with the next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculation. We measured = -0.0014 0.0037 at the lowest bin and -0.0181 0.0282 at the highest bin. The measured is compared with the predictions that assume various distributions.

We present the inverse slope parameter, mean transverse momentum, and yield per unit rapidity at each energy, and compare them to other measurements at different collisions. We also present the scaling properties such as and scaling and discuss the mechanism of the particle production in collisions. The measured spectra are compared to next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations.

Here we extend these studies to two particle correlations where one particle is an electron from the decay of a heavy flavor meson and the other is a charged hadron from either the decay of the heavy meson or from jet fragmentation. These measurements provide more detailed information about the interaction between heavy quarks and the quark-gluon matter. We find the away-side-jet shape and yield to be modified in Au+Au collisions compared to collisions.

The spectral shapes of all hadron transverse momentum distributions are well described by a Tsallis distribution functional form with only two parameters, and , determining the high and characterizing the low regions for the spectra, respectively. The integrated invariant cross sections calculated from the fitted distributions are found to be consistent with existing measurements and with statistical model predictions.

This reprocessing system is based on the experimental evidence indicating that hexavalent plutonium is co-crystallized with uranyl nitrate. The system consists of five steps: dissolution of spent fuel, Pu oxidation, U-Pu co-crystallization, dissolution of the crystals, and U crystallization. The system does not require organic solvent, expecting the enhancement of safety and cost-effectiveness. The system requires a recycling of the mother liquor from the U-Pu co-crystallization step to recover almost entire amount of U and Pu. The appropriate recycle ratio is determined for LWR fuels, such that the satisfactory decontamination is achieved. The mother liquor from the U re-crystallization step contains U and Pu. The flowsheet study shows that the constant ratio of Pu to U in the mother liquor can be controlled even though the composition of the spent fuel is different.
