The PSTEP is a nationwide research collaboration in Japan and was conducted from April 2015 to March 2020, supported by a Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. It has made a significant progress in space weather research and operational forecasts, publishing over 500 refereed journal papers and organizing four international symposiums, various workshops and seminars, and summer school for graduate students at Rikubetsu in 2017. This paper is a summary report of the PSTEP and describes the major research achievements it produced.

JAEA-Review-2013-041.pdf:19.01MB

Based on the regulations (the safety regulation of Tokai reprocessing plant, the safety regulation of nuclear fuel material usage facilities, the radiation safety rule, the regulation about prevention from radiation hazards due to radioisotopes, which are related with the nuclear regulatory acts, and the local agreement concerning with safety and environment conservation around nuclear facilities, the water pollution control law, and bylaw of Ibaraki prefecture), this report describes the effluent control results of liquid waste discharged from the JAEA's Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories in the fiscal year 2012, from 1st April 2012 to 31st March 2013. In this period, the concentrations and the quantities of the radioactivity in liquid waste discharged from the reprocessing plant, the plutonium fuel fabrication facilities, and the other facilities were much lower than the authorized limits of the above regulations.

Measurements of electrons from the decay of open-heavy-flavor mesons have shown that the yields are suppressed in Au+Au collisions compared to expectations from binary-scaled $$p+p$$ collisions. Here we extend these studies to two particle correlations where one particle is an electron from the decay of a heavy flavor meson and the other is a charged hadron from either the decay of the heavy meson or from jet fragmentation. These measurements provide more detailed information about the interaction between heavy quarks and the quark-gluon matter. We find the away-side-jet shape and yield to be modified in Au+Au collisions compared to $$p+p$$ collisions.

Development of elevated temperature structural design method for fast reactor vessels, 4; Effect of ratcheting strain on 316FR creep-fatigue strength

Kawasaki, Nobuchika; Date, Shingo*; Kikuchi, Koichi*; Isobe, Nobuhiro*; Kasahara, Naoto

Nihon Kikai Gakkai M&M 2009 Zairyo Rikigaku Kanfarensu Koen Rombunshu (CD-ROM), p.535 - 536, 2009/07

The effect of ratcheting strain on creep-fatigue strength was investigated in order to adjust the strain limit. Ratcheting creep-fatigue tests were conducted at 600 $$^{circ}$$C with 1 hr hold time. Creep fatigue lives did not decrease when the accumulated strain was superimposed within 5%. Therefore the effect of ratcheting on creep-fatigue strength is negligible when accumulated strain exceeds 2%.

To study the thermal performance of Am-MOX fuels, the high linear power irradiation test with Am-MOX fuels "B14 irradiation test" was carried out in the fast experimental reactor "JOYO". From the result of the irradiation test, the thermal performance for Am-MOX fuel was confirmed and the fuel irradiation behavior code was verified.

no journal, ,

To apply commercialized fast reactor, JSFR, creep fatigue evaluation method is developing to consider holding position during creep. In general thermal transients, creep hold position is intermediate position in the strain range. To consider holding position in the evaluation method, uni-axial intermediate hold type creep fatigue tests were performed and verified the evaluation method.
