Cylindrical domains of block copolymers developed via ordering under moving temperature gradient

A zone heating method, which imposes the moving temperature-gradient field on order in process of various melts in general, enabled to control a macroscopic orientation of microdomain structures in block copolymer bulk. We applied the method to a polystyrene-block-polyisoprene diblock copolymer forming hexagonally packed cylindrical domains (hex-cyl) in the absence of extermal fields. We discovered that the method creates the following special texture of hex-cyl; (1) The texture seemingly consists of volume-filled columnar grains with the grain axis parallel to the temperature gradient axis (defined as the oz axis). (2) The cylinder axis always orients perpendicular to the oz axis with a rotational angle $$phi$$ of the cylinder axis around the oz axis being fixed within a grain.

Magnetic response in the superconducting state of $$1H$$-Ca(Al$$_{0.5}$$Si$$_{0.5}$$)$$_2$$ studied by $$mu$$SR

Magnetic field dependence of the effective penetration depth ($$lambda$$) determined by $$mu$$SR is reported for $$1H$$-Ca(Al$$_{0.5}$$Si$$_{0.5}$$)$$_2$$, a structurally new phase of Ca(Al$$_{0.5}$$Si$$_{0.5}$$)$$_2$$. The new phase has an AlB$$_2$$-type crystal structure with $$P$$3 symmetry which, in contrast to earlier reports, does not exhibit superlattice structure along the $$c$$-axis. The bulk susceptibility measurement indicates that the upper critical field is much lower than that in superstructured ones for both $$c$$- and $$a$$-axis directions. A weak anisotropy in the superconducting order parameter is suggested from the increase of $$lambda$$ with increasing external field.

Magnetic and superconducting phase diagram in oxybromite cuprate Ca$$_{2-x}$$Na$$_x$$CuO$$_2$$Br$$_2$$

A comprehensive magnetic and superconducting phase diagram determined by muon spin rotation/relaxation ($$mu$$SR) is presented for Ca$$_{2-x}$$Na$$_x$$CuO$$_2$$Br$$_2$$ which has apical bromine atoms. Evidence for antiferromagnetic (AF) order in lightly doped samples and that for quasi-static spin glass (SG)-like state in moderately doped ones are obtained by ZF-$$mu$$SR at low temperatures. While the phase diagram is qualitatively similar to that in typical 2-1-4 cuprates including Ca$$_{2-x}$$Na$$_x$$CuO$$_2$$Cl$$_2$$ and La$$_{2-x}$$Sr$$_x$$CuO$$_4$$, it exhibits a slight shift (expansion) over the $$x$$ axis.

Study on Geological Environment Influenced by Fault Movement

Shingu, Kazuki*; Adachi, Kazuhiro*; Horinokuchi, Kenji*; Tomita, Teruo*

JNC TJ7400 2005-006, 358 Pages, 1993/03

JNC-TJ7400-2005-006.pdf:20.98MB

The objective of this study is to prove a long-term geoscientific stability of geological environment by means of measuring stress state and rock property around the active fault in order to investigate geological environment influenced by fault movement in underground as well as surface. The study was conducted in Mozumi mine of the Kamioka mining district, located in the Atotsu active faults system zone.
