In order to clarify the penetration behavior of Sr into concrete, the penetration tests of Sr(OH)$$_{2}$$ and SrCl$$_{2}$$ solution into concrete were carried out and the concentration and local structure of penetrated Sr were investigated using XRF and EXAFS. It was revealed that a significant amount of Sr is penetrated from the both solutions up to 3.0 mm, and the penetration rate depend on the pH of solution. Furthermore, it was revealed that the penetrated Sr from SrCl$$_{2}$$ solution have a local structure near Sr-O, which is derived from concrete.

In order to clarify the penetration behavior of Sr into concrete, the penetration test of SrCl$$_{2}$$ and Sr(OH)$$_{2}$$ solution were carried out and the coordination structure of Sr in concrete was analyzed using EXAFS and XRF. It was revealed that the penetrated Sr from SrCl$$_{2}$$ solution have a coordination structure of Sr-O, which O is derived from concrete. This result suggests that the coordination behavior of Sr with O can affect the penetration behavior of Sr into concrete.

Size effect of coarse aggregate on cesium penetration behavior into concrete

In order to investigate the influence of aggregate size on Cs penetration behavior into concrete, the penetration tests of mortar and concretes, which aggregates were varied in the size (the weight ratio of aggregates to mortar were constant), into CsCl and CsI solution were carried out and the Cs concentrations along the depth from surface were measured. The Cs concentration penetrated from CsI solution increased with decrease of the aggregate size, whereas the Cs concentration penetrated from CsCl solution did not depend on the aggregate size. It is considered that the dominant penetration path was mortar from CsI solution and interface of mortar and aggregates from CsCl solution.

In order to clarify Sr penetration behavior into concrete, the concentration and coordination structure of Sr penetrated in concrete from SrCl$$_{2}$$ and Sr(OH)$$_{2}$$ solution were analyzed using XRF and EXAFS. It was revealed by XRF results that significant amounts of Sr penetrated into concrete from both of SrCl$$_{2}$$ and Sr(OH)$$_{2}$$ solution and the penetration rate of SrCl$$_{2}$$ solution is larger than that of Sr(OH)$$_{2}$$. Further, EXAFS results showed that the Sr penetrated from SrCl$$_{2}$$ solution is not coordinated by Cl, but rather O, which is close to the nearest neighbor distance of the Sr-O structure.
