The current methodology for monitoring airborne radioiodine at the Tokai reprocessing plant (TRP) was reviewed, and some investigations were made to re-evaluate collection and measurement techniques in the methodology. The investigations focused particularly on: (1) in situ collection efficiency of an iodine sampler for $$^{129}$$I and its dependence on sampling flow rate; (2) evaluation of $$^{129}$$I and $$^{131}$$I activities collected in an activated charcoal cartridge; (3) $$^{129}$$I collection capacity of an activated charcoal cartridge under reprocessing off-gas conditions; and (4) real-time monitoring system for $$^{129}$$I in airborne effluent. The results obtained gave not only the validity of the TRP's monitoring method, but also technical aspects required for establishing a more reliable and effective monitoring method for radioiodine isotopes.

Future synchrotron light source using a 5-GeV energy recovery linac (ERL) is under proposal by our Japanese collaboration team, and we are conducting R&D efforts for that. We are developing high-brightness DC photocathode guns, two types of cryomodules for both injector and main superconducting (SC) linacs, and 1.3 GHz high CW-power RF sources. We are also constructing the Compact ERL (cERL) for demonstrating the recirculation of low-emittance, high-current beams using above-mentioned critical technologies.

We have applied angle-resolved Ce 3$$d{rightarrow}$$4$$f$$ resonance photoemission spectroscopy to the non-centrosymmetric pressure-induced superconductor CeIrSi$$_3$$ and obtained the 4$$f$$ band-structure and Fermi surfaces. We have found that the Ce 4$$f$$ states are located mainly near the Fermi level and that the photoemission intensity derived from the dispersive conduction bands across the Fermi level shows considerable resonant enhancement. In addition, the band structure and Fermi surfaces of CeIrSi$$_3$$ are different from those of the non-$$f$$ reference compound, LaIrSi$$_3$$ and the difference is well explained by the band structure calculated within the local density approximation (LDA). These results strongly suggest that the Ce 4$$f$$ electrons in CeIrSi$$_3$$ are well hybridized with conduction bands and form itinerant electronic states.

This report provides the data set of atmospheric discharges from Tokai reprocessing plant in Tokai-mura, Japan over the period from 1998 to 2007. Daily and weekly data are shown for $$^{85}$$Kr that is continuously monitored and for the other nuclide (Alpha emitters, Beta emitters, $$^{3}$$H, $$^{14}$$C, $$^{129}$$I, $$^{131}$$I) whose activities are evaluated based on weekly batch-samplings, respectively. The data contained in this report are expected to apply for studying the behavior of the radioactive airborne effluent in the environment.

We performed angle-resolved resonant photoemission spectroscopy on CeIrSi$$_3$$. CeIrSi$$_3$$ is said to be the superconductor which lacks inversion symmetry and therefore the measurements of electronic conductivity, magnetoresistance, dHvA, and so on, have been made on so far. In this study, we observed extremely clear 4$$f$$ derived band dispersions and Fermi surfaces. By these obtained profiles and comparison with those predicted by LDA calculation, Ce 4$$f$$ electrons in CeIrSi$$_3$$ have relatively itinerant electronic states.

We have investigated the bulk 4$$f$$ electronic structure of the non-centrosymmetric superconductor, CeIrSi$$_3$$ by soft X-ray angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. We have performed the angle-resolved 3$$d$$-4$$f$$ resonant photoemission and the comparison of the angle-resolved photoemission spectra of CeIrSi$$_3$$ with those of non-$$f$$ reference compound, LaIrSi$$_3$$ and revealed that the 4$$f$$ states of CeIrSi$$_3$$ well hybridized with the non-$$f$$ conduction bands.

${it Brevibacillus}$ is one of the remarkable host developing to produce secretory proteins. The proteins above amount of 10g/L have been expressed into the medium using the Brevibacillus expression system as known examples. In addition, there are many examples of expression of proteins derived from bacteria to human proteins and including disulfide bridge. Recently, we succeeded in high-level and secretory expression of protease and cellulase which are not efficiently produced in E. coli expression system.
