Parity violating effects enhanced by up to 10$$^6$$ times have been observed in several neutron induced compound nuclei. There is a theoretical prediction that time reversal (T) violating effects can also be enhanced in these nuclei implying that T-violation can be searched for by making very sensitive measurements. However, the enhancement factor has not yet been measured in all nuclei. The angular distribution of the (n,$$gamma$$) reaction was measured with $$^{139}$$La by using a germanium detector assembly at J-PARC, and the enhancement factor was obtained. From the result, the measurement time to achieve the most sensitive T-violation search was estimated as 1.4 days, and a 40% polarized $$^{139}$$La target and a 70% polarized $$^3$$He spin filter whose thickness is 70 atm$$cdot$$cm are needed. Therefore high quality $$^3$$He spin filter is developed in JAEA. The measurement result of the (n,$$gamma$$) reaction at J-PARC and the development status of the $$^3$$He spin filter will be presented.

For the effective phase imaging at pulsed neutron sources, we have designed and developed the multi-colored Talbot-Lau interferometer which works at several wavelengths. At the Energy Resolved Neutron Imaging System RADEN in J-PARC, we demonstrated its operation by observing the visibilities of moire fringes derived from different wavelengths (0.25, 0.50, and 0.75 nm). We also investigated the variation of moire fringes dependent on the wavelength resolution from 18% to 50% and showed the advantage of pulsed beams. At the central wavelength of 0.5 nm, we have succeeded in interferometric imaging for the samples of metal rods made of aluminum, lead, and copper. An absorption grating as an analyzer was fabricated by imprinting of metallic glass for the first time, and showed a clear moire fringe with the high visibility of 68% and a well-controlled shape in comparison with previous ones fabricated by oblique evaporation of gadolinium.

The first reprocessing pilot plant in Japan (Tokai Reprocessing Plant; TRP) has been operated since 1977 at Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories, JAEA. General radiation protection in TRP is performed with continuous monitoring and sampling methods. The continuous monitors measuring $$gamma$$-ray, neutron, particulate alpha and beta nuclides in the air are installed in the radiation controlled area as a central monitoring system to prevent from unnecessary exposure. Air and water effluents from the TRP are also monitored by continuous monitors or sampling methods to comply with regulations. In addition to this, environmental monitoring has been carried out to assess influences on public and environment by the plant operation. A feature of radiation protection and its recent relevant researches at TRP will be introduced in this presentation.

A large number of radioactive aerosols, especially alpha particles, are expected to be generated during fuel debris retrieval on Fukushima - Daiichi (1F) site and decommissioning of nuclear fuel cycle facilities. For conventional alpha dust monitor, 1-channel of silicon surface barrier detector (SSBD) is often used as a detector which has not so high limit of count rates. Moreover, since radioactive aerosol collected on a filter paper are measured by a detector, it is difficult to calculate an airborne concentration at the sampling site because a conventional dust monitor measures an integrated radioactivity on a filter paper. In this work, we developed a prototype of alpha dust monitor aiming at an in-situ measurement of high concentration airborne alpha particles. The efficiency for U$$_{3}$$O$$_{8}$$ checking source was 80.8%. For high count rate test using 3 MBq of $$^{241}$$Am checking source, 2.1 $$times$$ 10$$^{7}$$ cpm was achieved which was more than 10 times higher compared to an conventional alpha dust monitor using SSBD. For follow-up test to the airborne concentration of alpha particles using radon chamber, counting rate of prototype alpha dust monitor was smoothly followed with respect to the radon concentration in a radon chamber.
