Axial U(1) symmetry at high temperatures in $$N_f=2+1$$ lattice QCD with chiral fermions

Aoki, Shinya*; Aoki, Yasumichi*; Fukaya, Hidenori*; Hashimoto, Shoji*; Kanamori, Issaku*; Kaneko, Takashi*; Nakamura, Yoshifumi*; Rohrhofer, C.*; Suzuki, Kei

Proceedings of Science (Internet), 396, p.332_1 - 332_7, 2022/07

The axial U(1) anomaly in high-temperature QCD plays an important role to understand the phase diagram of QCD. The previous works by JLQCD Collaboration studied high-temperature QCD using 2-flavor dynamical chiral fermions such as the domain-wall fermion and reweighted overlap fermion. We extend our simulations to QCD with 2+1-flavor dynamical quarks, where the masses of the up, down, and strange quarks are near the physical point, and the temperatures are close to or higher than the pseudocritical temperature. In this talk, we will present the results for the Dirac spectrum, topological susceptibility, axial U(1) susceptibility, and hadronic collelators.

The purpose of this study is to examine the analysis techniques and observation techniques required to obtain the seismic data on long-term stability of the geological environment. Through the earthquake observation of about 9 years and the development of seismic network as a case study of Horonobe, we confirmed the observation techniques, such as the effectiveness of the seismograph installation using the pit for a snowy cold environment. The performance of the observation points in a relatively soft ground was about 1 mGal acceleration that can distinguish earthquake from background noise. For analysis technology, we confirmed the valid range of observational data for hypocenter determination. Also, the analysis conditions for improving the hypocenter accuracy by applying the Double-Difference Method (DD method) and Multiplet-clustaring method were confirmed. It was estimated that applicability of these methods is high in the condition that the hypocenters concentrated. The reliability of DD method has been improved by using many data including the observation points near the hypocenter. Analyzed focal mechanisms showed reverse fault of east-west compression. This is consistend with the geological structure and the regional stress field.

A 500-kV, 10-mA photocathode DC gun which is designed for next-generation light- sources based on energy-recovery linac has been developed in a collaboration effort of JAEA, KEK, Hiroshima University and Nagoya University. We have utilized a segmented cylindrical ceramic insulator and guard-ring electrodes to prevent any damage to the insulator from electrons emitted by the support-rod electrode. The 500-kV gun was successfully conditioned up to a voltage of 550 kV and a long-time holding test for 8 h was demonstrated at an acceleration voltage of 500 kV. The cathode electrode, anode electrode, and beam line apparatuses are now under fabrication and beam tests of the gun will be started soon.

A 500-kV photocathode DC electron gun which can supply the beam of a low emittance and a high average current has been developed in collaboration with KEK, JAEA, Hiroshima Univ., Nagoya Univ. and Yamaguchi Univ. The vacuum of the gun chamber has to be lower Extreme High Vacuum for maintain cathode-life time. A titanium chamber and new material of ceramic were employed to reduce outgassing rate. The result of outgassing rate of the gun chamber is described in this report.
