Complex compound of $$^{186}$$Re and $$^{188}$$Re with meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) is expected to be effective against cancerous disease. This compound is synthesized with high radiochemical yield by use of SnCl$$_{2}$$ as reducing reagent. However, the product contains a large amount of SnCl$$_{2}$$ which is harmful to human body. The removal of tin impurity was tested with cation exchange resin. $$^{186}$$Re-DMSA complex was also obtained with high radiochemical yield by use of other harmless reducing agents (L-ascorbic acid, Na$$_{2}$$SO$$_{3}$$, H$$_{3}$$PO$$_{3}$$). Synthesized $$^{186}$$Re-DMSA by use of SnCl$$_{2}$$ was stable in sodium acetate buffer for 5 hours, while survival amount of $$^{186}$$Re-DMSA synthesized by other reducing agents decreased in a short time.

Rhenium-186(T$$_{1/2}$$=90h; E$$_beta$$=1.1 MeV; E$$_gamma$$=137 keV) and rhenium-188(T$$_{1/2}$$=17h; E$$_beta$$=2.1 MeV; E$$_gamma$$=153 keV) are $$beta$$$$^{-}$$ particle emitting radionuclides with excellent properties for targeted radiotherapy. Re-188 has the advantages associated with carrier-free, generator-produced radionuclides. PZC generator with many tungsten molecules is expected for as practical generator. This generator was experimented for clarifying a characteristic. Meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) is applied for palliative treatment of pain associated with disease. Effect of pH is studied on preparation of $$^{186/188}$$Re-DMSA.
