Spin fluctuations are widely believed to play an important role as one of the most possible mechanisms for unconventional high-temperature superconductors. Here, the spin fluctuation in LaFePO$$_{0.9}$$ is found at high energies such as 30-50 meV with comparable intensity to an optimally doped LaFeAs(O,F).

We are beginning the construction of the near backscattering Si crystal analyzer spectrometer DNA in the pulsed neutron source of the Material and Life Science Facility (MLF) at J-PARC. This is the spectrometer to cover the area of the micro-eV energy range in the several spectrometers which are in the construction or planned the construction in MLF. The field of expected scientific research on the DNA spectrometer is very wide including the soft matter dynamics, the bio-molecular dynamics, the chemical molecular dynamics, the characterizations of the functional materials and the spin dynamics in the magnetism. We will report the present status of the construction schedule on DNA.

We are planning and partially beginning the construction of the near backscattering Si crystal analyzer spectrometer DNA at the Material and Life Science Facility (MLF), J-PARC. The optical specification of DNA is as follows. In the center of the vacuum chamber, a sample position is located at 42 m away form the coupled moderator. The analyzer banks of Si(111) and Si(311) single crystal wafers which are pasted on the spherical surface, are mounted at the right and left side each in the vacuum chamber. The Bragg angle of those analyzer crystals are about 87.5 deg and the distance between the sample position and the analyzer crystal is about 2.3 m. The analyzed neutron beams are detected by the $$^{3}$$Hee gas position sensitive detector located at around the sample position. Then the expected energy resolution and the dynamic range of the Si(111) crystal analyzer are about 1 micro-eV and $$pm$$ 40 micro-eV, respectively. We will report the optical principle and specification of DNA spectrometer.

We report results of inelastic neutron scattering measurement on powder sample of relatively low-Tc LaFePO$$_{0.9}$$ ($$T_{rm c}$$ $$sim$$ 5 K). Spin fluctuation arising from $$Gamma$$-M point FS nesting was not clearly observed on LaFePO$$_{0.9}$$. This feature is similar with LaFeAsO1-xFx (x = 15.8%, $$T_{rm c}$$ 7 K). Considering the fact that the magnetic fluctuation is also observed on high-$$T_{rm c}$$ material of x=8.2% ($$T_{rm c}$$=29 K), it indicates strong correlation between magnetic fluctuation arising from $$Gamma$$-M FS nesting and high-$$T_{rm c}$$. Furthermore, we also report recent experimental results performed by using CTAX (Triple Axis Spectrometer) at HFIR in ORNL and IN5 (chopper spectrometer) in ILL in order to see magnetic excitation and resonance mode at lower $$Q$$-$$E$$ space and temperature region on LaFePO$$_{0.9}$$.

A Si crystal analyzer near backscattering spectrometer DNA which covers the area of the micro-eV energy range in the Q-E space, where it is expected to explore sciences on atomic, molecular and spin dynamics in the nanosecond time range has been installed at BL02 of the Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF) of the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) until at the end of February 2012. Then, various on-beam commissioning has been done for about a year with handling continuing user program. In this report, we will introduce specifications, current status of the instrument.
