New regulatory requirements were developed taking into account the lessons-learnt from the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station on March 2011. The new regulatory standards required that monitoring posts should be diversified in transmission systems and equipped with backup power supply equipment for design basis accidents. In this report, we look back on the history of monitoring posts in Oarai Research and Development Institute, explained the application for the permission of reactor installment license, application for approval of the design and construction method, pre-use operator's inspection and improvement design of monitoring posts. This report also includes about inspection based on act on special measures concerning nuclear emergency preparedness and the installation of KURAMA-II, which was carried out in conjunction with the improvement of monitoring post for new regulatory standards. As an appendix, application document for approval of the design and construction method are included.

Coexistence of kaon condensation and hyperons in hadronic matter and its relevance to quark matter

Acta Astronomica Sinica, 56(Suppl.), p.43 - 45, 2015/11

Coexistence of kaon condensation and hyperons, which may be realized in neutron stars, is investigated on the basis of the relativistic mean-field theory combined with the effective chiral Lagrangian. It is shown that kaon-condensed phase in hyperon-mixed matter is plausible, but it leads to significant softening of the equation of state (EOS). We discuss indispensable effects which make the EOS stiffer so as to be consistent with recent neutron-star observations.

Possible coexistence of antikaons and hyperons in nuclei and in neutron stars is investigated based on the same interaction model within the relativistic mean-field theory. It is shown that the ground state of multi-strangeness nuclei is given by multi-hypernuclei without bound $$K^-$$ mesons. In neutron stars, on the other hand, kaon condensation appears in hyperon-mixed matter for a moderate $$K^-$$ potential depth, but it leads to significant softening of the equation of state. Some repulsive effect at high density should be taken into account so as to be consistent with recent observations of massive neutron stars.

Effect of $$Lambda(1405)$$ on structure of multi-antikaonic nuclei

The structure of multi-antikaonic nuclei (MKN) is investigated in a relativistic mean-field theory coupled with the nonlinear $$K^-$$ field by the use of effective chiral Lagrangian. The effects of the Lambda(1405) range terms on the structure of the MKN are taken into account. It is shown that baryon number density exceeds three times the normal saturation density in the central region of the MKN that a neutron skin structure becomes remarkable as the number of the embedded $$K^-$$ mesons increases. The similarity difference between the MKN kaon condensation in neutron stars are discussed.

The effects of the $$Lambda(1405)$$ ($$Lambda^*$$) and range terms (the second-order effects, SOE) on the structure of multi-antikaonic nuclei are studied in a relativistic mean-field theory coupled with the nonlinear effective chiral Lagrangian. It is shown that, due to the attractive interaction from the $$Lambda^*$$-pole contribution, the $$K^-$$ mesons and the protons are more attracted each other than the case without the SOE. On the other hand, the density distribution for neutron is pushed outward due to the repulsive effect from the range terms. The SOE is also discussed in connection with modification of kaon properties in a dense medium.

Properties of multi-antikaonic nuclei (MKN), where several numbers of $$K^-$$ mesons are bound, are studied in the relativistic mean-field model, combined with chiral dynamics for kaonic part of the thermodynamic potential. The density profiles for nucleons and $$K^-$$ mesons, the single particle energy of the $$K^-$$ mesons, and binding energy of the MKN are obtained. The effects of the $$bar K-bar K$$ interactions on these quantities are discussed in comparison with other meson ($$sigma$$, $$omega$$, and $$rho$$)-exchange models. It is shown that the $$bar K-bar K$$ interactions originate from two contributions: One is the contact interaction between antikaons inherent in chiral symmetry, and the other is the one generated through coupling between the $$K^-$$ and meson mean fields. Both effects of the $$bar K-bar K$$ repulsive interactions become large on the ground state properties of the MKN as the number of the embedded $$K^-$$ mesons increases. A relation between the multi-antikaonic nuclei and kaon condensation in infinite and uniform matter is mentioned.

Structure of multi-antikaonic nuclei in the relativistic mean-field model

Muto, Takumi*; Maruyama, Toshiki; Tatsumi, Toshitaka*

Modern Physics Letters A, 23(27-30), p.2536 - 2539, 2008/09

The structure of multi-antikaonic nuclei (MKN), where several $$K^-$$ mesons are bound in the nucleus, is studied in the relativistic mean-field model. A kaonic part of the thermodynamic potential including kaon-nucleon interactions is derived on the basis of chiral symmetry (abbreviated as a chiral model). It is shown that nonperturbative effects from kaons in the chiral model on the properties of the MKN such as the density distributions of nucleons and $$K^-$$ mesons and the binding energy become important since the number of the embedded $$K^-$$ increases.
