An interaction between K$$^{bar}$$ and nucleus is studied by using the X-ray from the kaonic atoms for a long time. However, it is difficult to determine the K$$^{bar}$$-nucleus interaction by using only kaonic-atoms data because the value of shift and width of the X-ray depend not only the potential depth but also the type of theoretical model. Thus, we study the $$overline{K}$$-nucleus interaction by comparing an observed missing-mass spectrum of the $$^{12}$$C(K$$^{-}$$, p) reaction with the DWIA calculation. Such a study has already reported from KEK-E548 experiment. However, their experiment is not enough to determine these interaction because they were pointed out about the experimental condition. Thus, we performed the further experiment to take the real spectrum of $$^{12}$$C(K$$^{-}$$, p) reaction at J-PARC.

Electro-magnetic dipole transitions in $$^{56}$$Fe were measured in photon scattering experiments with a linearly polarized photon beam. The parity quantum numbers of the excited dipole states were determined by the intensity asymmetry of resonantly scattered $$gamma$$-rays with respect to the polarization plane of the incident photon beam. While the summed magnetic dipole ($$M1$$) strength was determined as $$Sigma B(M1)!uparrow=3.52(17)$$ $$mu_N^2$$ at excitation energies between 7 and 10 MeV, the summed electric dipole ($$E1$$) strength below 10 MeV was obtained as $$Sigma B(E1)!uparrow=78.0(15)times10^{-3},e^2{rm fm}^2$$. The observed $$M1$$ strength was compared with shell-model predictions in the $$pf$$-shell using the GXPF1J and KB3G effective interactions. In addition, the $$E1$$ strength was compared with random-phase approximation calculations with the Skyrme interaction.

As a response to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident, emergency environmental radiation monitoring was performed at the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories, Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). This paper provisionally describes the results of the monitoring including ambient radiation dose rate and radioactivity concentrations in airborne and fallout. The ambient radiation dose rate began to increase since about 1:00 on March 15 2011, and varied with three peak dose rate of several thousand $$mu$$Gy/h at 8:00 on March 15, at 5:00 on March 16, and at 4:00 on March 21. The variation over time in radioactivity concentrations in airborne and fallout almost showed the same tendency as that of the dose rate. The fallout of $$^{137}$$Cs for 1 month from March 15 to April 15 was about 120 times higher than that in May 1986 after the Chernobyl accident. The internal dose by inhalation was estimated from the airborne concentration observed.

As a correspondence to the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, the environmental radiation monitoring was performed at the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories, JAEA. This report presented the measurement results of ambient radiation dose rate, radioactivity concentration in the air and radioactivity concentration in fallout and meteorological observation result until May 31, 2011. The ambient radiation dose rate increased, with the peak dose rate of several thousand nGy/h at 7 o'clock in March 15, at 5 o'clock in March 16, and at 4 o'clock in March 21. The variation on the radioactivity concentration in the air and in fallout showed the almost same tendency as that of the dose rate. The concentration ratio of I-131/Cs-137 in the air increased to about 100. The dose was estimated resulting from internal exposure due to inhalation.

Reply to "Comment on '$$^{138}$$La-$$^{138}$$Ce-$$^{136}$$Ce nuclear cosmochronometer of supernova neutrino process'"

We have proposed a new nuclear cosmochronometer $$^{138}$$La(T$$_{1/2}$$=102 Gyr)-$$^{138}$$Ce-$$^{136}$$Ce for measuring the time elapsed from a supernova $$nu$$ process episode. $$^{138}$$La is synthesized by the $$nu$$ process. If a 1$$^+$$ excited state exists at energy lower than 72 keV, the 1$$^+$$ state may be a $$beta$$ unstable isomer and $$^{138}$$La synthesized by the $$nu$$ process is destroyed via the isomer. Recently, Byelikov et al. have measured Gamow-Teller strength distributions in $$^{138}$$La. It has been presented that this experiment shows that the existence of a low-energy 1$$^+$$ state in $$^{138}$$La is extremely unlikely. Our calculated result is consistent with their result and we conclude that there is no evidence that suggests the existence of the 1$$^+$$ isomer in $$^{138}$$La.

Spin-flip $$M1$$ strength in $$^{208}$$Pb has been measured in photon scattering experiments with a quasi-monochromatic, linearly polarized photon beam. The data resolve an $$M1$$ giant resonance into at least seven, possibly eight, discrete transitions at excitation energies between 7.1 and 7.4 MeV below the neutron separation energy. The measured $$M1$$ strength in this region is found to be larger than the previous report. The experimental results are compared with an estimation of self-consistent random phase approximation using a semi-realistic interaction.

Excited states in $$^{136}$$Ba, populated in deep-inelastic collisions by the interaction of 450-MeV $$^{82}$$Se ions with a $$^{139}$$La target, have been studied by means of in-beam $$gamma$$-ray spectroscopy. A new isomer with $$I^pi=(10^+)$$ has been identified at an excitation energy of $$E_x=3.357$$ MeV. The half-life was determined as $$T_{1/2}=94pm10$$ ns. The extracted $$B(E2)$$ value is much smaller than those in $$^{132}$$Te and $$^{134}$$Xe. This hindrance is investigated by a shell model calculation.

Measurement of $$B(M1)$$ for the $$pi p_{3/2} nu p_{1/2}^{-1}$$ doublet in $$^{68}$$Cu

Lifetimes of excited states in $$^{68}$$Cu were measured by the $$gamma$$-$$gamma$$-$$t$$ coincidence with two BaF$$_{2}$$ detectors through the decay of $$^{68}$$Cu$$^{m}$$ produced by the ($$n$$,$$p$$) reaction. The halflife of the 2$$^{+}$$ state at 84~keV was obtained as 7.84(8)~ns, corresponding to the $$B(M1; 2^{+}rightarrow1^{+} )$$ value of 0.00777(8)~$$mu_{N}^{2}$$. A shell model calculation with a minimum model space of $$pi p_{3/2}nu p_{1/2}^{-1}$$ gives a good prediction of this $$B(M1)$$ value by using experimental g-factors of neighboring nuclei. This small $$B(M1)$$ value can be explained by a shell model calculation with the $$f_{7/2}^{-r}(p_{3/2} f_{5/2}p_{1/2})^{n+r} (r=0,1)$$ model space.
