JAEA-Testing-2025-001.pdf:2.61MB

There is an emergency response team against 7 nuclear facilities (JRR-3 in Nuclear Science Research Institute, Tokai Reprocessing Plant (TRP) in Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories, JMTR, HTTR and Joyo in Oarai Research and Development Institute, Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor Monju, Fugen Decommissioning Engineering Center) accidents of Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). The team is in Naraha Center for Remote Control Technology Development (NARREC). On site surveys which are about the situations and the access entering route of the 7 site emergencies were conducted by the team in 2021. And the results of the surveys made the team get two Spot (quadrupedal robots) in 2022. This is because the team thought using Spot gave operators the less exposure than using crawler robots which had been belonged to the team. After that it was confirmed that the Spot have the ability to respond to the emergency on the route of each facility in 2023. This report shows the results of the Spot's run function (= shooting videos, running oversteps, running up and down stairs, and so on) confirmation about 6 facilities (JRR-3, JMTR, HTTR, Joyo, Monju and Fugen).

JAEA-Research-2013-043.pdf:13.81MB

In the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, it is assumed that the core fuels melted partially or wholly, and the normal technique of accounting for a fuel assembly is not applicable. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the transparent and rational technique of accounting in the process of collection and storage of fuel debris. In this research, an application of the superconducting phase Transition Edge Sensor microcalorimeter (TES microcalorimeter) is studied for the accounting of nuclear materials in the fuel debris. It is expected that the detailed information of nuclear materials and fission products in fuel debris is obtained by using a high-resolution characteristic of TES microcalorimeter. In this report, the principle of TES microcalorimeter, the measurement experiment using TES in JAEA, and the simulated calculation using the EGS5 code system are summarized.

We have studied low-energy spin excitations on polycrystalline LaFeAsO$$_{1-x}$$F$$_{x}$$ samples by inelastic neutron scattering. The dynamical spin susceptibility $$chi$$''($$omega$$) of the superconducting samples is found to be comparable to that of the magnetically ordered parent sample. On the other hand, $$chi$$''($$omega$$) almost vanishes at x=0.158, where the superconducting transition temperature T$$_{c}$$ is suppressed to 7 K. This suggests that the low energy spin excitations are closely connected with high-T$$_{c}$$ superconductivity. The disappearance of the spin excitations at low energy would correspond to the disappearance of the hole Fermi surface as the electron concentration increases with doping, as observed in ARPES measurements of BaFe$$_{2-x}$$Co$$_{x}$$As$$_{2}$$ at x=0.15. The relationship between the spin excitation and the Fermi surface will be discussed in comparison with other iron-based superconductors.

Superconducting gap symmetry of $$Ln$$1111 system, which has the highest $$T_c$$ in iron-based superconductors, is considered to be full gap $$s_{pm}$$ wave based on magnetic penetration depth and neutron scattering measurements. On the other hand, a line node gap symmetry is proposed in BaFe$$_2$$(As,P)$$_2$$ based on magnetic penetration depth and thermal conductivity measurements despite comparatively its high-$$T_c$$ ($$T_c$$=30 K). Inelastic neutron scattering of BaFe$$_2$$(As,P)$$_2$$ may exhibit different magnetic excitations in the $$Q$$-position or $$E$$-dependence of a resonant peak from that of La1111 system. In this study, we performed inelastic neutron scattering measurement on 36g polycrystalline powder sample of optimally-doped BaFe$$_2$$(As,P)$$_2$$ using Fermi chopper spectrometer 4SEASONS in J-PARC. We will discuss about the possible superconducting gap symmetry based on our inelastic neutron scattering results.

We performed inelastic neutron scattering on a powder sample of iron-based superconductor BaFe$$_2$$(As$$_{0.65}$$P$$_{0.35}$$)$$_2$$ with $$T_c$$ = 30 K. Although this system is expected to have line nodes in its superconducting order parameter, we have observed spin resonance at the same scattering vector as that appeared in the $$s_{pm}$$-wave iron-based superconductors without line nodes. Moreover, the resonance enhancement, which can be a measure of the area of sign reversal between the hole and electron Fermi surfaces (FSs), is comparable to those without line nodes. These facts indicate that the sign reversal between the FSs is still dominant in this system, and the line nodes should create only limited area of sign-reversal on a single FS. Hence the system can hold higher Tc than the other iron-based superconductors with nodal symmetry, such as LaFePO$$_{1-y}$$ and KFe$$_2$$As$$_2$$ ($$T_c <$$ 10 K).

AMATERAS is a cold-neutron disk-chopper spectrometer in MLF, J-PARC. The construction of main part of the spectrometer has been completed in spring of 2009. Soon after that, we have started the commissioning work on AMATERAS. The performance of AMATERAS has been examined by test experiments in the course of commissioning. In parallel to these works, we have started the user program on AMATERAS from December 2009 and we are getting scientific results from our spectrometer. In this presentation, we will report the current status of AMATERAS including the results of performance tests and some of examples of scientific outputs.

Future synchrotron light source using a 5-GeV energy recovery linac (ERL) is under proposal by our Japanese collaboration team, and we are conducting R&D efforts for that. We are developing high-brightness DC photocathode guns, two types of cryomodules for both injector and main superconducting (SC) linacs, and 1.3 GHz high CW-power RF sources. We are also constructing the Compact ERL (cERL) for demonstrating the recirculation of low-emittance, high-current beams using above-mentioned critical technologies.

At TPL (Tritium Process Laboratory) of JAEA, ITER relevant tritium technologies have been studied. The design studies of Air Detritiation System have been carried out in JAEA as a contribution of Japan to ITER. For the tritium processing technologies, our efforts have been focused on the research of the tritium recovery system of ITER test blanket system. A ceramic proton conductor has been studied as an advanced blanket system. A series of fundamental studies on tritium safety technologies not only for ITER but also for fusion DEMO plants has also been carried out at TPL of JAEA. The main research activities in this field are the tritium behavior in a confinement and its barrier materials; monitoring; accountancy; detritiation and decontamination etc. In this paper, the results of above recent activities at TPL of JAEA are summarized from viewpoint of ITER relevant and future fusion DEMO reactors.
