In December 2011, our survey respondents became more negative about hosting the NPP after the Fukushima accident in March 2011 compared to the survey in January 2010. Another comparison between the November 2005 and the December 2011 surveys provided a different look. The magnitude of the negative shift in Kariwa Village, which saw a large expansion of social welfare programs, was modest in the sense that its 2011 results were similar to its 2005 results. Local tax revenues, subsidies from the national government and the donation from a utility contributed to this budget expansion in Kariwa. The negative shifts from 2005 to 2011 were clear in the other two municipalities which did not see such a large expansion of economic benefits during this period.

This paper describes a new structure of horizontally polarized shear(SH) wave electromagnetic acoustic transducer(EMAT). The EMAT with a Halbach magnet structure shows a stronger magnetic flux density as well as ultrasonic sound pressure than that of an EMAT with a general periodic permanent magnet(PPM) structure. The measured magnetic flux density and the ultrasound directivity distributions for both the Halbach and the PPM structure EMATs are in excellent agreement with those expected form a simulation calculation. The above EMATs were also used for inspection tests of many artificial slits; and it is found that the Halbach one performs a better detectability than the PPM one.

Cation-exchange behavior of Rf (T = 78 s) produced in the Cm(O, 5n) reaction was studied on a "one-atom-at-a-time" scale in HSO (0.15-0.69 M)/HNO mixed solutions ([H] = 1.0 M) using an automated ion-exchange separation apparatus coupled with the detection system for alpha-spectroscopy. It was found that adsorption probability (%ads) of Rf on cation-exchange resin decreases with increasing [HSO], showing a successive formation of its sulfate complexes. Rf exhibited much weaker formation of the complexes than the lighter homologues Zr and Hf, which is qualitatively in good agreement with theoretical calculations including relativistic effects.
