In this presentation, we analyzed the chemical state of cesium in radiocesium-bearing microparticles (CsMPs) released during the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident using high-resolution X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XANES) and micro X-ray fluorescence (
-XRF). The results identified two forms of cesium: one dissolved in glass and the other enriched on the surfaces of internal voids. The latter is considered to have originally existed as a gas and became concentrated during the cooling and solidification of the molten glass. These findings are crucial for understanding the formation process of CsMPs during the accident, as well as for future decommissioning and safety assessments.

line at 13.615 keV from that of the Rb K
line at 13.395 keV in the X-ray fluorescence spectrum with an energy resolution of approximately 220 eV of the conventional silicon drift detector (SDD). Meanwhile, the fluorescent X-rays of U L
and Rb K
were fully separated by TES with 50 eV energy resolution at the energy of around 13 keV. The successful peak separation by TES led to an accurate mapping analysis of trace U in micro-X-ray fluorescence measurements and a decrease in the signal-to-background ratio in micro-X-ray absorption near edge structure spectroscopy.

To study the performance of the TES detector with a high-intensity pulsed charged-particle beam, we measured X-ray spectra with a pulsed muon beam at the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) in Japan. We found substantial temporal shifts of the X-ray energy correlated with the arrival time of the pulsed muon beam, which was reasonably explained by pulse pileup due to the incidence of energetic particles from the initial pulsed beam.

Reflectance spectra of excavated material exhibit a hydroxyl (OH) absorption feature that is slightly stronger and peak-shifted compared with that observed for the surface, indicating that space weathering and/or radiative heating have caused subtle spectral changes in the uppermost surface. However, the strength and shape of the OH feature still suggests that the subsurface material experienced heating above 300
C, similar to the surface. In contrast, thermophysical modeling indicates that radiative heating does not increase the temperature above 200
C at the estimated excavation depth of 1 m, even if the semimajor axis is reduced to 0.344 au. This supports the hypothesis that primary thermal alteration occurred due to radiogenic and/or impact heating on Ryugu's parent body.

We previously reported that low-dose radiation induces the anti-oxidative function in many organ systems of mice. This results in the suppression of several kinds of oxidative stress-induced damage. This study was conducted with the objective of revealing the health effects of low-dose radiation obtained from our previous reports and searching for a new treatment based on low-dose radiation, such as radon therapy. We extracted the characteristics of the effects of low dose radiation suppressing diseases and enhancing the anti-oxidative function using fuzzy answer by self-organizing map (SOM) based on mutual knowledge. The relationship between the suppressive effect and increased antioxidative function was shown in our result, and the concentration dependence of the effect against pain was shown on the output map. Although the effect against other organs depending on concentration was unpredictable, our results indicate that low-dose radiation may also be suitable for treatment of liver disease and brain disease.

Biotite is known as a host phase that retains uranium (U) in uranium deposits at Ningyo-Toge and Tono, and it is expected that the distribution of U in biotite will provide insight into the concentration and long-term immobilization of U. However, biotite contains rubidium (Rb), which interferes with X-ray fluorescence analysis, making it difficult to accurately determine the distribution of U-Rb in biotite by measurement using a conventional solid state detector (SSD). In this study, we developed a method to use a transition edge sensor (TES) as a detector in microbeam X-ray fluorescence analysis, which enables us to detect X-ray fluorescence with an energy resolution of about 20 eV and to obtain a Rb K
line at 13.373 keV and a U L
line at 13.612 keV can be completely separated. Therefore,the developed method enables us to accurately determine the distribution of U-Rb in biotite.

Toward the neutral beam (NB) system of ITER, the prototype of the ITER NB is under construction in the NB test facility (NBTF), Padova, Italy. For the NBTF, Japan Atomic Energy Agency manufactures, transports and constructs the 1MV high voltage power supply components to generate 1 MV, 60 A for 3600 s, which consist of fourteen components such as five DC generators and transmission lines with 100 m in a length. The manufacturing of the power supply components is in progress as scheduled. Three of five DCGs and 80% of the transmission lines have been completed. In the factory, the voltage holding test including the margin of 20% were successfully demonstrated. Then, these are under transportation to the NBTF. The construction work is started from Dec/2015 as scheduled. As the one of R&Ds results, the development of the water choke made of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) is reported, which is the alternative of the conventional ceramic.

Radiocesium-bearing microparticle (CsMP) released from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident is important as a material that reflects the physicochemical state inside the nuclear reactor at the time of the accident and as a host for radioactive Cs after deposition in the environment, but many unresolved aspects remain to be clarified. In this study, the chemical state of Cs in CsMPs was identified by measuring them with a superconducting transition edge sensor (TES) detector, which has higher sensitivity than conventional detectors.

We focused on the sebum layer and examined the solubility of radon in the components and its temperature dependence in order to clarify the effect of radon water on skin. As a result, the solubility of radon water by sebum component showed the maximum value for methyl myristate and squalene at each temperature, and the minimum value for triolein. In addition, it could also be suggested that triolein is greatly involved in the solubility of radon in sebum.
