We report on a study on incomplete fusion induced by deuteron, which contains one proton and one neutron with a weak binding energy and is easily broken up. This reaction study was achieved by measuring directly the cross sections for both proton and deuteron for Pd at 50 MeV/u via inverse kinematics technique. The results provide direct experimental evidence for the onset of a cross-section enhancement at high energy, indicating the potential of incomplete fusion induced by loosely-bound nuclei for creating proton-rich isotopes and nuclear transmutation of radioactive waste.

Toroidal field coils (TFC) of the JT-60SC consist of 18 D-shape coils. The maximum magnetic field is 7.4 T at an operational current of 19.4 kA. An advanced NbAl superconductor was developed for the TFC conductor material in JAERI. The Nb
Al has lower strain sensitivity on superconducting performances, and allows us to fabricate the TFC by react-and-wind (R&W) method that makes that the coil fabrication with high reliability becomes easier and the fabrication cost becomes lower. To demonstrate the coil fabrication by R&W method, a two-turn D-shape coil was developed. The D-shape coil was tested at 4.3-4.4K and 7-12T. Measured critical current (Ic) was 30 kA at 7.3 T and 4.4 K. Using the measured conductor and strand Ic values, the strain of the conductor was estimated to be -0.6%. The Ic-B-T characteristic expected by an empirical equation substituting this strain shows that the required temperature margin for TFC is satisfied. Thus, the R&W method was demonstrated to be the applicable fabrication method of the TFC.

It is considered that the uncertainty of construction cost due to geological heterogeneity is quite large. Therefore, it is crucial to make a long-term consistent budget plan for a construction period of tens years and to have engineering strategies for reducing a total budget. In this study, a risk management approach for construction in a heterogeneous fractured rock is developed. In this approach, methodologies of calculating construction costs for excavating drifts and taking countermeasures at high-hydrostatic pressured fracture zones in a heterogeneous rock are established. The cost for excavating drift is calculated from the heterogeneity of rock strength estimated from a geostatistical modeling approach. The cost for taking countermeasures is calculated from the heterogeneity of large fracture zone estimated from a probabilistic discrete fracture network modeling approach. In addition, a risk for a construction is assessed by a risk cost curve commonly used in the financial business.

We developed All-Sky Gamma-Ray Compton Camera based on Scintillators. We measured the residual dose rate in F1 by using this detector. Additionally, we measured the residual dose rate at beam line in J-PARC 3 GeV RCS, where has a high dose-rate from 0.01 to 1 mSv/h caused by beam loss during beam operation. We performed the experiment that we can use the detector in the RCS. As the result, we evaluated to obtain -ray imaging of dose rate, which is consistency the measured one by using other detectors. In our presentation, we will report these results.
