The polarized $$^{3}$$He filter, which polarizes neutrons due to a large neutron absorption cross section of $$^{3}$$He with strong spin selectivity, becomes a convenient neutron spin filter (NSF) because it is operated immediately after its installation in beam lines without any neutron beam adjustments. For realizing such the NSF, a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) system is indispensable for monitoring $$^{3}$$He nuclear spin polarization ${it P}$ of the NSF. We have developed the flexible NMR system based on adiabatic fast passage (AFP) and pulse NMR methods by using their complementary features. In comparing with the values of ${it P}$ obtained by neutron transmission measurement at the beam line 10 of the J-PARC, we measured the correlations between the AFP and pulse NMR signals as changing condition of temperature, amplitude and applying period of the radio frequency field for the pulse NMR, and so on. As the results, we confirmed that our system would function enough as the ${it P}$ monitor.

Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) is a promising barrier material for graphene spintronics. In this study, spin-polarized metastable de-excitation spectroscopy (SPMDS) is employed to study the spin-dependent electronic structure of monolayer h-BN on Ni(111). The extreme surface sensitivity of SPMDS enables us to elucidate a partial filling of the in-gap states of h-BN without any superposition of Ni 3$$d$$ signals. The in-gap states are shown to have a considerable spin polarization parallel to the majority spin of Ni. The positive spin polarization is attributed to the $$pi$$-$$d$$ hybridization and the effective spin transfer to the nitrogen atoms at the h-BN/Ni(111) interface.

We report in-plane orientation control of newly developed high-mobility organic semiconductor: 2,7-diphenyl[1]benzothieno[3,2-$$b$$][1]benzothiophene (DPh-BTBT). As previously reported on monolayer pentacene, it was revealed that bunched steps on vicinal Si(111) with bismuth termination break the surface symmetry and reduce three-fold symmetry of DPh-BTBT grains into quasi-single orientation. Interestingly, the critical step height necessary for the orientation control was different from that of pentacene. We examined several mechanisms of orientation control and concluded that the facet nano structure fabricated by step bunching is working as an anisotropic template. We will also show the wettability control of bismuth terminated silicon surface and show that the growth mode of DPh-BTBT is dependent on the surface nanostructure of Bi-Si.

${it In-situ}$ analysis was performed on the graphene growth in ultrahigh vacuum chemical vapor deposition by exposing the epitaxial Ni(111) thin film to benzene vapor at 873 K. It is shown that the highly uniform single- and bi-layer graphenes can be synthesized by the control of benzene exposure in the range of 10-10$$^{5}$$ langmuirs, reflecting a change in the graphene growth-rate by three orders of magnitude in between the first and second layer. Electron energy loss spectroscopy measurements of single- and bi-layer graphenes indicates that the interface interaction between bi-layer graphene and Ni(111) is weakened in comparison with that between single-layer graphene and Ni(111). It is also clarified from the micro-Raman analysis that the structural and electrical uniformities of the graphene film transformed on a SiO$$_{2}$$ substrate are improved remarkably under the specific exposure conditions at which the growths of single- and bi-layer graphenes are completed.

The financial accounting and contract management system of JAEA, built on a commercial ERP package, had suffered from serious problems of high lifecycle cost, poor response, and lack of extensibility, due to the too much customization to the ERP package, and disorganized software structure. To solve those problems, three approaches were applied; (1) conducting thorough analysis of business flow and fit/gap, which enabled removing all customization brought to the ERP package; (2) dividing the system into subsystems, and clearly defining interfaces between the subsystems, which increases the transparency, extensibility and performance of the system; (3) outsourcing the development of the subsystems to multiple venders to reduce the development cost. Those approaches can be useful for developing business information systems using commercial software to save time and cost, while meeting the unique requirements of an organization.

Transverse momentum distributions and yields for $$pi^{pm}, K^{pm}, p$$, and $$bar{p}$$ in $$p + p$$ collisions at $$sqrt{s}$$ = 200 and 62.4 GeV at midrapidity are measured by the PHENIX experiment at the RHIC. We present the inverse slope parameter, mean transverse momentum, and yield per unit rapidity at each energy, and compare them to other measurements at different $$sqrt{s}$$ collisions. We also present the scaling properties such as $$m_T$$ and $$x_T$$ scaling and discuss the mechanism of the particle production in $$p + p$$ collisions. The measured spectra are compared to next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations.

Measurements of electrons from the decay of open-heavy-flavor mesons have shown that the yields are suppressed in Au+Au collisions compared to expectations from binary-scaled $$p+p$$ collisions. Here we extend these studies to two particle correlations where one particle is an electron from the decay of a heavy flavor meson and the other is a charged hadron from either the decay of the heavy meson or from jet fragmentation. These measurements provide more detailed information about the interaction between heavy quarks and the quark-gluon matter. We find the away-side-jet shape and yield to be modified in Au+Au collisions compared to $$p+p$$ collisions.

JAEA developed the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system at the establishment in 2005, aiming to support and enhance its business-critical task such as financial accounting and contract management. We considered the conceptual design of the next ERP system, and we implemented the prototype system to validate its effectiveness. Moreover, we implemented the simple add-on tool for rapid and easy development. At the result, we gauged the future prospects that the XML-centric system which we designed will offer high modularity, flexibility, connectivity between other systems, independence among subsystems. The simple add-on tool also demonstrated its effectiveness.
