Detailed -ray spectroscopy of the exotic neon isotope Ne has been performed using the one-neutron removal reaction from Ne. Based on an analysis of parallel momentum distributions, a level scheme with spin-parity assignments has been constructed for Ne and the negative-parity states are identified for the first time. The measured partial cross sections and momentum distributions reveal a significant intruder p-wave strength providing evidence of the breakdown of the N = 20 and N = 28 shell gaps. Only a weak, possible f-wave strength was observed to bound final states. Large-scale shell-model calculations with different effective interactions do not reproduce the large p-wave and small f-wave strength observed experimentally, indicating an ongoing challenge for a complete theoretical description of the transition into the island of inversion along the Ne isotopic chain.

The PADLES package is a passive dosimeters which usually consists of two types of passive and integrating dosimeters, a CR-39 plastic nuclear track detector and a thermoluminescence dosimeter. In the ALTCRISS experiments, both tissue-equivalent material CR-39 PNTDs and NAN-JAERI were enclosed in the PADLES packages as radiators for CR-39 to precisely measure a personal exposed doses. We compared the doses obtained by PADLESs with or without the PEs, and with or difference of the two tissue-equivalent materials. The results of space radiation measurements of the ALTCRISS project Phase 1 to 4 using the PADLES system will be reported in this time: Phase 1 experiments was from December 2005 to April 2006, Phase 2 was from April to September 2006, phase 3 was from Sep 2006 to April 2007, and Phase 4 was conducted from May to October 2007.

We implemented a simple version of a modal-moment aerosol dynamics model and achieved completely dynamic solution of a gas-to-particle mass transfer over a wide range of aerosol diameters from 1 nm to super micro m. To consider a variety of atmospheric aerosol properties, a category approach is utilized: aerosols are distributed into 4 categories, Aitken, accumulation, soot aggregates, and coarse mode. A regional-scale simulation was performed for the entire year of 2006, covering Northeast Asian region. Statistical analysis showed the model reproduced the regional-scale transport and transformation of the major inorganic anthropogenic and natural air constituents within factors of 2 to 5. Modeled size distributions of total weight and chemical components were consistent with the observations, indicating simulations of aerosol mixing types were successful.

The total amounts of doping boron were about 60 massppm. The range of He concentration produced in the specimens was from about 5 to about 300 appm. Tensile and fracture toughness tests were performed after neutron irradiation. 50 MeV-He irradiation was also performed to implant about 85 appm He atoms at 120C by AVF cyclotron to 0.03 dpa, and small punch testing was performed to obtain DBTT. Radiation-hardening of the neutron-irradiated specimens increased slightly with increasing He production. The 100 MPam DBTT for the F82H+B, F82H+B+B, and F82H+B were 40, 110, and 155C, respectively. The shifts of DBTT due to He production were evaluated as about 70C by 150 appmHe and 115C by 300 appmHe. The DBTT shift in the small punch testing was evaluated as 50C.
