In a Dirac semimetal, the massless Dirac fermion has zero chirality, leading to surface states connected adiabatically to a topologically trivial surface state as well as vanishing anomalous Hall effect. Recently, itis predicted that in the nonrelativistic limit of certain collinear antiferromagnets, there exists a type of chiral "Dirac-like" fermion, whose dispersion manifests four-fold degenerate crossing points formed by spin-degenerate linear bands, with topologically protected Fermi arcs. Here, by combining with neutron diffraction and first-principles calculations, we suggest a multidomain collinear antiferromagnetic configuration, rendering the existence of the Fermi-arc surface states induced by chiral Dirac-like fermions.

However, magnetic systems typically undergo thermal decoherence at finite temperatures. Here, we show inelastic neutron scattering results on an alternating antiferromagnetic-ferromagnetic chain compound NaCuTeO that the excited quasiparticles can counter thermal decoherence and maintain strong correlations at elevated temperatures. At low temperatures, we observe clear dispersive singlet-triplet excitations arising from the dimers formed along the crystalline -axis. The excitation gap is of 18 meV and the bandwidth is about half of the gap. The band top energy has a weak modulation along the [100] direction, indicative of a small interchain coupling. The gap increases while the bandwidth decreases with increasing temperature, leading to a strong reduction in the available phase space for the triplons. As a result, the Lorentzian-type energy broadening becomes highly asymmetric as the temperature is raised. These results are associated with a strongly correlated state resulting from hard-core constraint and quasiparticle interactions. We consider these results to be not only evidence for strong correlations at finite temperatures in NaCuTeO, but also for the universality of the strongly correlated state in a broad range of quantum magnetic systems.

被引用回数:1 パーセンタイル:9.31(Astronomy & Astrophysics)The long-lived Fe (with a half-life of 2.62 Myr) is a crucial diagnostic of active nucleosynthesis in the Milky Way galaxy and in supernovae near the solar system. The neutron-capture reaction Fe(n,)Fe on Fe (half-life=44.5 days) is the key reaction for the production of Fe in massive stars. This reaction cross section has been previously constrained by the Coulomb dissociation experiment, which offered partial constraint on the E1 -ray strength function but a negligible constraint on the M1 and E2 components. In this work, for the first time, we use the surrogate ratio method to experimentally determine the Fe(n,)Fe cross sections in which all the components are included. We derived a Maxwellian-averaged cross section of 27.53.5 mb at = 30 keV and 13.41.7 mb at = 90 keV, roughly 10%-20% higher than previous estimates. We analyzed the impact of our new reaction rates in nucleosynthesis models of massive stars and found that uncertainties in the production of Fe from the Fe(n,)Fe rate are at most 25. We conclude that stellar physics uncertainties now play a major role in the accurate evaluation of the stellar production of Fe.

被引用回数:5 パーセンタイル:43.19(Physics, Multidisciplinary)We report neutron scattering measurements of single-crystalline YFeGe in the normal state, which has the same crystal structure as the 122 family of iron pnictide superconductors. YFeGe does not exhibit long-range magnetic order but exhibits strong spin fluctuations. Like the iron pnictides, YFeGe displays anisotropic stripe-type antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations at (). More interesting, however, is the observation of strong spin fluctuations at the in-plane ferromagnetic wave vector (). These ferromagnetic spin fluctuations are isotropic in the () plane, whose intensity exceeds that of stripe spin fluctuations. Both the ferromagnetic and stripe spin fluctuations remain gapless down to the lowest measured energies. Our results naturally explain the absence of magnetic order in YFeGe and also imply that the ferromagnetic correlations may be a key ingredient for iron-based materials.

被引用回数:5 パーセンタイル:21.72(Astronomy & Astrophysics)The Zr()Zr reaction cross section is crucial in the modelling of -process nucleosynthesis in asymptotic giant branch stars because it controls the operation of the branching point at the unstable Zr and the subsequent production of Zr. We have carried out the measurement of the Zr(O,O) and Zr(O,O) reactions and obtained the -decay probability ratio of Zr and Zr to determine the Zr()Zr reaction cross sections with the surrogate ratio method. We tested our deduced maxwellian-averaged cross section in stellar models with masses between 2 and 6 and metallicities 0.014 and 0.03. The largest changes - up 80 % variations in Zr - are seen in the models of 3-4 , where the Ne neutron source is mildly activated. The new rate can still provide a match to data from meteoritic stardust silicon carbide grains, provided the maximum mass of the parent stars is below 4 , for a metallicity of 0.03.

Experimental results are well reproduced by a Boltzmann theory that includes magnetoelastic coupling. The SSE anomalies coincide with magnetic fields tuned to the threshold of magnon-polaron formation. The effect gives insight into the relative quality of the lattice and magnetization dynamics.

被引用回数:6 パーセンタイル:44.68(Physics, Nuclear)The relative -decay probability ratios of the neutron resonance states in Zr and Zr populated via two neutron transfer reactions, Zr(O,O)Zr and Zr(O,O)Zr, have been measured to test the validity of the surrogate ratio method (SRM) in determining the (n,) reaction cross section. The cross sections of the Zr(n,)Zr reaction are derived from the experimentally obtained ratios and the cross sections of the Zr(n,)Zr reaction in the equivalent neutron energy range of = 0 - 8 MeV. The deduced cross sections of Zr(n,)Zr reaction agree with the directly measured ones in the low-energy region, and with the evaluated ENDF/B-VII.1 data at higher energies of 3 MeV. The agreement supports the concept of the SRM method to indirectly determine the (n,) reaction cross sections.

被引用回数:52 パーセンタイル:90.05(Multidisciplinary Sciences)磁性元素を添加したトポロジカル絶縁体は、量子異常ホール効果や無散逸伝導などの魅力的な現象の発現が予言され、低消費電力スピンデバイスの開発につながっていくものと期待されている。既に、いくつかの磁性添加トポロジカル絶縁体で長距離磁気秩序が確認されている。しかし、量子異常ホール効果の発現は、極低温におけるCrを添加した(Sb,Bi)Te系に限られており、強磁性の微視的な起源はほとんど分かっていない。そこで、今回、X線磁気円二色性実験による元素選択的研究を行うことにより、本物質系の強磁性は、母体の正孔キャリアーを媒介としたものであり、Crの3d電子とSbやTeのp電子の相互作用が極めて重要であることを明らかにした。この結果は、異常量子ホール素子の実現に向けても重要である。

被引用回数:5 パーセンタイル:38.74(Physics, Nuclear)High-spin states of Rb are studied via the fusion-evaporation reactions Cu+F, Zn+O, and Zn+O with the beam energies of 75 MeV, 76 MeV, and 80 MeV, respectively. Twenty-three states with twenty-eight transitions are added to the previously proposed level scheme, where the second negative-parity band is significantly pushed up to spins of 22 and 15 and two sidebands are built on the known first negative-parity band. Two successive band crossings with frequencies 0.51 MeV and 0.61 MeV in the = 0 branch as well as another one in the =1 branch of the second negative-parity band are observed. Signature inversions occur in the positive-parity and first negative-parity bands at the spins of 11 and 16, respectively. The signature splitting is seen obviously in the second negative-parity band, but the signature inversion is not observed. It is also found that the structure of the two negative-parity bands is similar to that of its isotone Y. Signature inversion in the positive-parity yrast band with configuration g9/2 g9/2 in this nucleus is discussed using the projected shell model.

アンテナ材料をミリ波適応材料として作製するために、低電力損失の特性を有するフッ素高分子を用いてその評価を行った。これまで、銅との蒸着面とフッ素高分子表面との接着性が弱いという問題が挙げられていた。この問題を解決するために、放射線グラフト重合によりフッ素基板表面に親水性モノマーであるアクリル酸を導入し、フッ素高分子表面の改質を図った。その結果、銅と基板との接着率を1.5倍に向上させることができた。

反転対称性を持たない重い電子系超伝導体CeIrSiに対して行った高分解能角度分解光電子分光の結果について報告する。CeIrSiは結晶構造に反転対称性を持たないために各バンドがスピン軌道相互作用によって1000K程度の分裂を起こし、詳細な電子構造の観測には高いエネルギー分解能が必要となる。そこで米国の放射光施設Advanced Light Source BL 10.0.1において=95-122eVの入射光を用い、30meV程度の高エネルギー分解能で角度分解光電子分光測定を行った。実験の結果、EF付近に4f電子が形成する平坦な準粒子が観測されているが、dバンドがを横切る位置で混成を起こして強度変化を示していることが明らかとなった。このことから、4f電子は局在的ではなく、d電子と混成してフェルミ面を形成していることが明らかとなった。バンド計算との比較に基づき、この化合物の電子状態について議論する。
