Times Cited Count:2 Percentile:8.33(Chemistry, Physical)We report in-plane orientation control of newly developed high-mobility organic semiconductor: 2,7-diphenyl[1]benzothieno[3,2-][1]benzothiophene (DPh-BTBT). As previously reported on monolayer pentacene, it was revealed that bunched steps on vicinal Si(111) with bismuth termination break the surface symmetry and reduce three-fold symmetry of DPh-BTBT grains into quasi-single orientation. Interestingly, the critical step height necessary for the orientation control was different from that of pentacene. We examined several mechanisms of orientation control and concluded that the facet nano structure fabricated by step bunching is working as an anisotropic template. We will also show the wettability control of bismuth terminated silicon surface and show that the growth mode of DPh-BTBT is dependent on the surface nanostructure of Bi-Si.

Future synchrotron light source using a 5-GeV energy recovery linac (ERL) is under proposal by our Japanese collaboration team, and we are conducting R&D efforts for that. We are developing high-brightness DC photocathode guns, two types of cryomodules for both injector and main superconducting (SC) linacs, and 1.3 GHz high CW-power RF sources. We are also constructing the Compact ERL (cERL) for demonstrating the recirculation of low-emittance, high-current beams using above-mentioned critical technologies.

orbitals. The magnetic response of these Co 3d-derived states agrees well with temperature dependence of the observed MR ratios of the granular C
-Co films. This suggests the incorporation of the spin-polarized Co 3d-derived states of the C
-Co compound into the observed TMR effect.

In this report, we sophisticated the framework as a part of the total system performance assessment for two purposes: the first one is quantification of relationship of characteristic of natural phenomena between geological environmental conditions (THMCG), and the other one is quantification of relationship of THMCG condition between parameters of performance assessment. On the other hand, we applied the sophisticated framework to all natural phenomena. As a result, to apply the sophisticated framework, we could show that information integration could carry out efficiently. Moreover, we have checked that the framework was applicable to all phenomena. Furthermore, we could show that suitable scenarios might be chosen by information integration.

Recently, we have found the appearance of substantial MR ratio (80%) in a C/Co hybrid material. Such the MR ratio cannot be explained enough only by tunnel conduction through Co grains. Therefore, to obtain information about electronic structures of C
/Co hybrid material is necessary. Absorption spectra of C
Co are different from that of pristine C
. In particular, peak intensity corresponding to
(LUMO)
C 1s excitation of C
Co is clearly attenuated. In addition, C 1s photoelectron peak of C
Co slightly shifted to lower binding energy compared to that of pristine C
. These results indicate that 3d electron of Co transfers to
orbital of C
and new electronic states are formed in the C
-Co compound. In fact, XPS spectra of valence excitation region also demonstrate the formation of hybrid orbital near the Fermi level due to the coupling of C
and Co.

The current drive capability of lower hybrid waves is assessed for an ITER steady state scenario using a relativistic, one-dimensional Fokker-Planck code and a toroidal ray tracing code. The present LH launcher design provides a current drive efficiency of 1.810
AW

and an off-axis profile of the driven current that is fovarable for a reversed magnetic shear configuration. Possible optimizations in the LH power spectrum are investigated. Neutral beam current drive (NBCD) is investigated with theoretical codes employing different approaches. An NBCD code employing the bounce-averaged Fokker-Planck equation to include orbit effects in a toroidal system shows a good agreement with an orbit following Monte-Carlo code.

This paper summarises recent progress in the physics basis and its impact on the expected performance of ITER. Significant progress has been made in many outstanding issues and in the development of hybrid and steady state operation scenarios, leading to increased confidence of achieving ITER's goals. Experiments show that tailoring the current profile can improve confinement over the standard H-mode and allow an increase in beta up to the no-wall limit at safety factors 4. Extrapolation to ITER suggests that at the reduced plasma current of
12MA, high Q
10 and long pulse (
1000 s) operation is possible with benign ELMs. Analysis of disruption scenarios has been performed based on guidelines on current quench rates and halo currents, derived from the experimental database. With conservative assumptions, estimated electromagnetic forces on the in-vessel components are below the design target values, confirming the robustness of the ITER design against disruption forces.

Times Cited Count:35 Percentile:48.48(Nuclear Science & Technology)With the main aim of providing physics basis for ITER and the steady-state tokamak reactors, JT-60/JT-60U has been developing and optimizing the operational concepts, and extending the discharge regimes toward sustainment of high integrated performance in the reactor relevant parameter regime. In addition to achievement of the equivalent break-even condition (QDTeq up to 1.25) and a high fusion triple product = 1.5E21 m-3skeV, JT-60U has demonstrated the integrated performance of high confinement, high beta-N, full non-inductive current drive with a large fraction of bootstrap current in the reversed magnetic shear and in the high-beta-p ELMy H mode plasmas characterized by both internal and edge transport barriers. The key factors in optimizing these plasmas are profile and shape controls. As represented by discovery of various Internal Transport Barriers, JT-60/JT-60U has been emphasizing freedom and restriction of profiles in various confinement modes. JT-60U has demonstrated applicability of these high confinement modes to ITER and also clarified remaining issues.

We investigated the bias-voltage (V) and temperature (T) dependences of the spin-dependent transport properties of the granular C60-Co films in the current perpendicular to plane (CPP) geometry. At low T, each sample shows much higher MR than the upper limit of TMR (MR=50%) derived from the Julliere's model. From the I-V characteristics, we evaluated the degree of the higher order tunneling process, as a possible cause of the MR enhancement above MR=50%, to be 3-7 (T=2K), which changes depending on the sample composition and device structure. By considering this enhancement effect, we can estimate the spin-polarization at the C60-Co compound/Co interface. The estimated values are remarkably high, i.e., P=75% at zero temperature, compared to Co crystal(P=30%), and almost independent of the samples. The detailed results on the transport properties and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy were presented in the conference.
