Lifetimes of the first 2$$^{+}$$ states in $$^{162,164}$$Gd have been measured by means of $$beta$$ - $$gamma$$ delayed coincidence technique for mass-separated $$^{162}$$Eu and $$^{164}$$Eu isotopes. Using the obtained lifetimes $$tau$$($$^{162}$$Gd) = 3.98(8) ns and $$tau$$($$^{164}$$Gd) = 4.0(2) ns, $$B(E2;0^{+}rightarrow 2^{+})$$ values were deduced as $$B(E2;0^{+}rightarrow 2^{+})$$($$^{162}$$Gd) = 5.45(11) e$$^{2}$$b$$^{2}$$ and $$B(E2;0^{+}rightarrow 2^{+})$$($$^{164}$$Gd) = 5.2(3) e$$^{2}$$b$$^{2}$$.
