Transverse momentum distributions and yields for $$pi^{pm}, K^{pm}, p$$, and $$bar{p}$$ in $$p + p$$ collisions at $$sqrt{s}$$ = 200 and 62.4 GeV at midrapidity are measured by the PHENIX experiment at the RHIC. We present the inverse slope parameter, mean transverse momentum, and yield per unit rapidity at each energy, and compare them to other measurements at different $$sqrt{s}$$ collisions. We also present the scaling properties such as $$m_T$$ and $$x_T$$ scaling and discuss the mechanism of the particle production in $$p + p$$ collisions. The measured spectra are compared to next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations.

Measurements of electrons from the decay of open-heavy-flavor mesons have shown that the yields are suppressed in Au+Au collisions compared to expectations from binary-scaled $$p+p$$ collisions. Here we extend these studies to two particle correlations where one particle is an electron from the decay of a heavy flavor meson and the other is a charged hadron from either the decay of the heavy meson or from jet fragmentation. These measurements provide more detailed information about the interaction between heavy quarks and the quark-gluon matter. We find the away-side-jet shape and yield to be modified in Au+Au collisions compared to $$p+p$$ collisions.

Particle confinement processes were studied in detail on LHD. Diffusion coefficients (D) and convection velocities (V) were estimated from density modulation experiments. The magnetic configuration and collisionality were widely scanned in order to investigate parameter dependences of D and V. In order to study the effect of the magnetic configuration, magnetic axis positions (R$$_{ax}$$) were scanned from 3.5 m to 3.9 m. This scan changed the magnetic ripples quite significantly, enabling the effects of neoclassical properties on measured values to be widely elucidated. Dependences of electron temperature (T$$_{e}$$) and helically trapped normalized collsionality ($$nu$$$$_{h}^{*}$$), where $$nu$$$$_{h}^{*}$$=1 indicates a rough boundary between the 1/$$nu$$ and plateau regimes, were examined using the heating power scan of neutral beam injection (NBI). It was found out that generally larger (or smaller) contributions of neoclassical transport resulted in more hollow (or peaked) density profiles. The larger neoclassical contribution was found to be situated at a more outwardly shifted R$$_{ax}$$ for the same T$$_{e}$$, and higher T$$_{e}$$ or lower $$nu$$$$_{h}^{*}$$ at each R$$_{ax}$$. However, it is to be noted that R$$_{ax}$$=3.5 m showed different characteristics from these trends in that this case showed a more peaked density profile at higher T$$_{e}$$.

"The third technological meeting of Tokai Reprocessing plant (TRP)" was held in JNFL Rokkasyo site on March 14$$^{th}$$, 2001. The technical meetings have been held in the past two times. The first one was about the present status and future plan of the TRP and second one was about safety evaluation work on the TRP. At this time, the meeting focussed on the corrosion experrience, in-service inspection technology and future maintenance plan. The report contains the proceedings, transparancies and questionnaires of the meeting are contained.

In order to establish the conversion technology development test regarding MOX powder handling during transportation when high burn-up plutonium is used, temperature measurement on the canister in a transportation cask and powder property analysis were performed. As a result of the test, effective guideline of anticipated temperature on the canister could be obtained.

The retrieval of the nuclear fuel debris, which is the substance including melted nuclear fuel and structural materials, will be started from fiscal 2021. Then, as a non-destructive analysis technology of the nuclear fuel debris, a $$gamma$$-ray spectroscopy system is being developed to measure high energy $$gamma$$ rays due to $$^{154}$$Eu and nuclear reactions under high dose rate, which was composed of a CeBr$$_{3}$$ cubic, photomultiplier tube, and fast signal processing unit. This presentation reports that the exposure study of the detector system was performed for a $$_{60}$$Co field at the dose rates of up to 750 mSv/h, and the detector response was investigated at each dose rate.
